The gear stats are for me one of the lowest aspects to play this game. All dungeons have level-scaling to mix in veterans with new players.
Yea, the combat is way too easy before chap 6 but then you can choose the difficulty and need your stuns and shields to survive the battles. I died a lot of times in chap 6-7 on veteran and there is even a master mod.
Bossfights do have mechanics to care for and there a lot of bosses in the games.
You need to use shields and dungeon mechanics aswell as avoiding damage areas.
Yea the tab target combat system is a big problem to be honest, i totally agree with that.
An action combat system would boost the feeling of an individual battle every time you fight and you could also offer controller support, which is quite important for many people (for me aswell).
But to say you need no skill or reflexes with tab target combat system is just not true.
If you want the challenge then you will experience it. (disable companion - doing multiplayer missions alone - playing master mode)
Welcome to an MMO.
and most of em need skill and reflexes.
I agree that relying on gear stats is a problem tho mostly, but not in swtor.
Have you ever played DDO?
wanted to try it cuz ive read it had crossplay and searched for a game to play with an ps4-player ( and i only have a pc, not an ps4)
But i would be interested in it - can you share your experiences?
Btw im actually playing DD:DA
DDO also has the old-style tab-target gameplay. It is a fun game just like this one, you just have to get a bit better with the keyboard. TBH I understand your frustration but lemme tell you this, after playing with this targeting, you can easily get used to the UI, and believe me, you can make some sick, a** kicking combos. It is also same with DDO, old engine, kinda dated-out gameplay but hey, try to focus on the arrows, the numbers and the skills. I believe this gameplay gives you a more "pure" combo-style combat system which can be satisfying. Hell, you still gotta do some hide and runs, dodges and puzzles in boss fights! Yesterday I got blasted by a boss for 370+ THOSAND damage because I had no clue how to fight. Yes, the combat is not the flashiest but it makes you feel your characters abilities. If you keep having issues don't be shy to look for people for help.
Can I have your stuff?
In an RPG character skills und gear schould be important. And I really like the system of tab targeting und choose from a variety of skills, use good rotations or priority lists. There is more than enough need for movement in boss baatles, pvp etc. And you really need your brain and player skill in higher diificult missions.
Reflex...honestly...i dont need that soo much in a RPG. Its not a shooter ;-)
this game is exactly a wow clone with the star wars skin with 435897435 skills and having to macro just like when old wow was released, among with other tittles.
i had to left eso after mastering all veteran dungeons solo and 2 manning vet trials with my templar which became an inmortal, for me, swtor is a welcome addition to steam as i have played this tittle previously and i have played my fair amount of time, the pvp is the most fun i ever had, swtor is fun.
