This is Hands down best way to enjoy SWTOR for $5 budget
So i have mentioned in previous threads on Preferred Status and some of its perks. 99% of people will obviously say get a subscription, However sometimes a subscription is not an option. This is by far the best way to Enjoy SWTOR with a one time purchase for $5.

https://account.swtor.com/user/digitalupgrade

now this is a little dated considering their is one useful item i see from the package being the S.T.A.P. mount. you will receive these items to any character past or new you create on your account. now here are some of the perks available to a preferred status player that not many realise. you can trade credits and items starting at level 10. you get mail access starting at lvl 1, and are able to mail 1 item at a time except no mailing credits. iirc your get 2 extra slots on the GTN to sell items, might be more now with the new upgraded system to their FTP model.

in fact here is the link

http://www.swtor.com/info/news/article/20190620

Few other things to note about preferred is instead of only using green coloured items you are now able to use the upgraded blue items. Shadow of Revan is now free and the expansion i fully enjoyed. And now that you can have a 1m credit cap this alone allows you to unlock a lot more than you could previously with a more rooms in your Corascant Strong hold. and a Nice little vender who does sell the Ewok companion Treek on the Fleet for 1 million Credits with a level 40 Legacy. Think of preferred status as finding Easter Eggs in game in the way that. you will have perks that a strict F2P will not have access to. i am not going to spoil them all but there is enough to keep you busy for a long time. keep that in mind. TC.

EDIT: Before swathing through the entirety of this thread here is all you need to know to make an informed Decision on what is best for your play style Enjoy!!

People say to sub because you get the expansions for free even after letting the sub go, but a F2P just buying cartel coins to get preferred doesn't give them the expansions later on thats what i see anyway
Well it had taken me 2 solid years to get through all 8 story lines to level 50 as well another 1-2 years to cap my Legacy to 50. if you are new, and don't give a crap about the product and want jsut end game... why bother? its the journey it takes that makes this game re-playable and enjoyable. Not the destination.

For sure a lot of people play this game for the casual storyline stuff

it is an amazing game, and the casual story makes it enjoyable for sure. i mean yeah you can subscribe nothing wrong with it, but there is so much this game offers between lvl 1-60 if playing through all the content it takes a very long time to get through it. But it is worth it for sure to let it all sink in =)
I would rather advise to subscribe at least once and get a crap-load of stuff.
It´s not that expensive to sub once.

But expansions are mostly story content.
The <lvl50 stories were great when the content was actually challenging. Now it's just all fedex and meh cutscenes. Sure it's ok too, but not that cool tbh. Then again you can actually play the healer and the tank now.(although playing the story as a tank is rather... a special way to play the game)

Everyone has a unique way of playing all i am saying is if $$ is tight then a good way to enjoy the game is only needing to spend the $5 option it does go a long way.
This info is a bit outdated.

Both F2P and Preferred have the 1m credit cap.

Just save money to purchase 1 month of Sub and when it ends, you will become Preferred.

Better yet, take a look at the SWTOR Digital Deluxe Edition. It way cheaper for what it offers.

Sort of missing the point in what I am saying, this info is for people who want something less than a cup of coffee yet everyone insists we buy the case of beer. Sure a case of beer might be better in a lot of ways... but this is for the people who only Want the cup of coffee. Get it??

The difference here is that F2P and Preferred has almost no difference at all if compared to before.

So again, keep your money to pay one month.

If you say so

To be 100% honest you don’t really need to spend more than the $5 one time fee to be able to get ALL unlocks and Cartel market items aside from the exclusive past rewards unlocked in collections. Needing to be a subscriber to this game is completely optional.

You can look it yourself. The difference between f2p and Preferred are very tiny/can't even be bothered.

And liking it or not, once you hit level 60 you will have to sub to unlock the expansions, or else you will not play them and will not be able to advance to the max level.

The only way to have the expansions is to SUB. Why would you waste 5 dollars to get minors little half-assed conveniences when you will have to pay again to be able to get into endgame and once your sub runs out you will automatically become Preferred? Not to mention you will still keep all the expansions.

So now your idea of 4.99 Dollars will become 19.98 Dollars to reach the same goal in the end.

No, the expansions are needed if you want to go above level 60.

It’s called learning what can and cannot be done with this game and having the ability to understand that you can have 4 years of content for a sum of $5 and Then subscribing if you so desire I never said do not ever subscribe did I? I simply said that you can have a lot more with a lot less. You seem to not understand not everyone has had a chance to subscribe since alpha or beta or pre order and for what it’s worth I am passing on info from a perspective that in today’s world there is no need to over pay when you don’t have to
