If you subscribe you will get it but if you let the sub lapse you'll either have to get the unlock or lock the character or atleast thats the way it used to me
The Togruta I think is currently the highest cost to buy the Twilek will be more than the 1 mil credit cap most likely though
I'm not really sure about the legacy unlock though
As for credit, you can make a friend or a guildmate who is a subs and let them buy you the item then you periodically pay them back. Example: Item cost 1.5m, so you pay them 2 time. 1st for the 1m and 2nd for the 500k.
Note; tbh been a while since I check races price but a 600cc item probably worth around 1-3m depending how rare it is.
Edit: You need only to finish chapter 3 (usually around level 50) as a Twilek character to gain access to it across all classes and if you only do the class mission without sub quest, it's probably going to take 20 ish hours.
$10 isn't a big deal, the problem is that I haven't even played the damn game yet. I can't remember the last MMO I played that had races locked. FF14 had the dragon people race locked, but I think that was only for people who didn't have the expansion they came with.
I don't think your second suggestion will ever happen. I've played a lot of MMO's over decades, and I almost never find a guild that's active, fun and aware that I exist within it. I feel like modern MMO's are less social than they were, back in the day, but maybe I'm just more anti-social than I was back then.
Either way, I doubt a stranger trusting me that much with their real money, even if I would be willing to pay them back extra (even if I decided I hated the game, I'd still pay off the debt first before quitting; not like I got anything better to do with this quarauntine).
I already downloaded the game though, so maybe I'll at least try it for an hour, see if I like it. I can already tell it's going to be no fun though, considering I've been slapped with the F2P wall before even making my (generic bland stupid looking non-Twilek) character. I totally wanted to play a sci-fi Star Wars game, so that I could play as a basic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ average human amongst a world filled with crazy aliens. What of a ton of exciting fun!
I really didn't want to play a subscription based game right now, so I can't see myself getting to much mileage out of the game, with so many strict restrictions. Even if the story is good is as good as I've heard, I'm certainly not going to be able to enjoy it :(
FF14 goes Free2Play next month, and Phantasy Star Online 2 is coming to Steam soon. Maybe I'll just skip this game, and wait for those.
But don't just ask a minute after you join the guild tho lol.
The better suggestion is to just subs or buy through cartel market, getting 1 million as a new player can be harder than getting to chapter 3 as a subs. I agree that playing as a f2p is unbearable but after a sub, its become much better.
I sort of agree and sort of don't agree there; it's really hard to argue with your last sentence.
I've been playing online games for almost 2 decades now, so when someone normally rambles on about how "online games aren't fair about how they treat free players", I don't pay much attention. That's because you can't think of games like this as "Free2Play", you have to think of them as "Subscription based games, with a limited free trial". So I get that. If the Free Players had access to EVERYTHING the subscribed players had, they wouldn't feel justified in spending their money.
But locking the races? That's so damn dumb. What's the first thing you think of, when you think Star Wars? Jedi, space ships, wookies, and other crazy alien races. None of which I can play. My whole problem with the Sci-Fi genre in general, is that it ALWAYS puts humans on this high pedestal, which I always found dumb, considering the vastness of the universe. Humans wrote the books that these realities take place in, we don't need to keep patting outselves on the back INSIDE the books too xD
I don't know. I want to play the game, but my heart just keeps telling me I'm going to be depressed the entire time.
Realms Beyond looks alright. Has a Pathfinder: Kingmaker feel (another game I need to grab), although Realms Beyond looks single player, I'm mostly hyped for online stuff atm. I've got a ton of single player stuff to keep me busy (although I'm feeling too lazy to touch them).
Viera is going to be behind a F2P "Wall", so you should skip FFXIV too. Just saving you some time.
Ah the good ol days when i actually had friends that played the same games or servers as me lol
My friend likes FF14 though, and she already stated that she's going to start paying for it again soon, so if I can play it for free, might as well give it another chance.
I'm going to try playing SWTOR, but as a different class than I wanted. Figure, if I still enjoy the game, I can farm whatever I need to buy the Twilek unlock on this character, then start over as the actual class I want to play, that way I still get experience I wanted... albeit probably hundreds of hours later, if I can withstand the game that long.
I understand you want to play Twiliek, i get it - i wanted to play sith pureblood.
But man, there is nearly no difference in the actual gameplay and i hope you're able to enjoy and appreciate a different race. It's not like you're locked out of classes or anything and every class has vastly different stories too.
Just comes across like somebody goes into a coffee shop and complains about the colour of the cup...
