There's very few companions I like. Lokin, Quinn, maybe Drellik. Lemme put it this way, there's a reason I shelled out money for HK and Shae.
You were able to kill him in the beta but too many people complained that they were left without a healer so Bioware made it impossible to kill in the final version of the game.
You also had the option of killing other companions or making decisions that would make them leave your party but too many people complained about being able to lose companions so they made it impossible to lose any of the vanilla companions by the time the game launched.
It's unfortunate then that it was changed.
I understand the issue people had with it but the better solution would have probably been to have changed the companions to work the way they do now where they can fill any role instead of them changing the story around.
