I don't know how most people feel about it, but I always hated whenever I had to hop in a vehicle to move around.
But the feel of guns is not quite as good as in 3.
Game is also much shorter, but I think that is ok, pretty fitting for a campain. Like 10-15 hours probably. Endgame is fine too, chambers are pretty replayable with random levels and modifiers, but that's the only endgame, which is a problem. No takedowns, no slaughtershaft, etc.
First off, I don't know if this is a bug or not, but the audio for weapons and effects is really muffled.
But more to the point, so far, it's just really disappointing. There is almost no lack of impact from weapons (especially the energy wave ones). Melee feels weak,. The variety of weapons so far has been: axes, crossbows, shotguns. Almost no automatic weapons.
I played until blighthoof, but honestly, unless this really picks up soon, I'll probably drop it.
BL2 was so much better.
I'd say it picks up around returning to Brighthoof from the Dankness and seeing a certain world changing event, and/or level 15 (those may not happen at same time, they roughly due for me on the path I have come to take).
In the first case, you reach the point in story where you unlock a second class, which gives you more options and can in many cases makes things feel more impactful. Taking a second class with companion or adding that second base skill can make a difference. As you level the synergies you can do make things more impactful.
In the second case, level 15 is when you start being able to find enchantments on gear.
Also, if this is only when you first reach blighthoof, I suggest waiting until you come back from the cemetary (forgot its name), and actually revive the town. That is when a lot of things open up, such as access to the storage, inventory upgrades, quickchange station, etc. Also one of the very first bounty questlines to appear at that point (Goblins in the Garden the first of the quests), will give you a decent automatic poison crossbow if followed to the end that should hold you over until you find more automatic weapons. You should find plenty of those in the Deepwild Dankness.
Also, be sure to look for and find all the lucky dice you can. Keep getting that loot luck up and you will be drowning in decent weapons of all types. Be warned thou, that some of the dice in Brighthoof and Queensgate (as well as a marble and an obelisk), can't be found until after that certain world changing event I alluded to earlier.
If I have to rebuy the game on Epic Games Store to get a working copy, like I had to do with Torchlight II, I'm going to be completely done with Steam at that point.
May be something to do with your audio settings
There are axes swords mace etc
there are combat rifles and sub machine guns, though a lot of the time those may not be the tool for the job, depends a lot on your character class etc.
Well, you have sort of only completed the intro really, but this isnt really BL2 or BL3
It's more the nuances of a D&D type of game dressed in Borderlands trappings, cause the DM (Tiny TIna) lives in Borderlands of course.
You have to pay more attention to how your character class works and play to the class mechanics, if you try to fight them then it will not be a lot of fun.
Some classes do well at melee for example, and for some melee is just a buff multiplier
to stack buffs, it is not a killing mechanism.
Bummer that may be, but that is not a steam issue but a your system issue, and i am sure you don't want to hear that, but it is true.
And if you do a 100% clean reinstall, which i suspect you are not doing, then the issue would probably go away.
