Choosing weapons/equipment by their score or sell value?

It seems Tiny Tina handles this differently, but maybe not at face value. I can see guns have a higher score rating, even by a decent amount sometimes, compared to what I currently have equipped, but they will be worth less coin still and their effectiveness in combat seems to correlate more with their sell values rather than than their item score...

So I am just going off sell value and kinda disregarding item value for now and wondering if anyone else was/did the same thing?

If you are going by value the only weapons that deal more damage and have a really high value are the ones that say 'this would be worth a lot if not fired'. The second you use it, the value plummets and the damage drops to less than normal. Those items are just to sell for more gold. Not all items with higher gear score are better, due to RNG and what stats they roll with, but higher gear score does mean higher potential stats.
