Hmmm. I think you're misunderstand me and we're getting off track. Let me clarify a few points and see if that helps...
1. I'm stating that Wonderlands is a reference to DnD set in the Borderlands setting, yet it is not a Borderlands game. The developers have stated that it is not a Borderlands game in articles.
2. My opinion is that I enjoyed the gags, references, and storyline greatly. And part of that joy came from how the game relates so accurately to my experiences playing TTRPGs with friends and family.
3. My theory is that, based on the criticisms of the game from others in this thread, maybe the gags and references aren't as relatable if you don't have experiences playing DnD with a group of people IRL.
And I suspect that I'm misunderstanding you as well. Do you think you could clarify what is bothering you about my opinion and/or theory?
But I imagine I'll be back online to help other players get through their storyline soon enough.
While in previous bl games you had 1 classmod without variable legendary mods (except elemental effects).
Not sure what that has to do with anything, but no. Assuming we're talking specifically about video games, I've been gaming since 1983 on both console (Atari 2600) and PC (286 IBM clone). I've played on multiple platforms (console, PC, Mac, tablet, portable, and mobile) over the decades, and even got to alpha-test some games and co-wrote scripts for a couple of indie games. I've also played text-based games and PbP games (which I'm counting because they still happened online on a computer 😄).
But my resume shouldn't matter. Enjoying something (as long as you're not hurting anyone in the process) is a good thing. And whether you're new to gaming, or been at it for a few decades like me, the joy you get from it is equally valid. It's certainly not something to deride or mock.
I also hated how linear and bland the game was compared to every other borderlands which were already incredibly linear but at least you could explore a little bit. Tiny Tina has ZERO exploration, the combat is a chore because everything in the game is a bullet sponge. Even comparing weapons to others as you pick them up makes no sense. They all have different stats that end up being the exact same gun when you boil it all down.
Wonderlands got the same fate. "BARE BONES" "bad story and weak use of property" when it came out but now we are in the "Its just disappointing, but there is a lot there" phase we've lived through before.
The fandom of the series destroys games then buys them when they are 10-15 bucks and acts like "Wow, we all missed this hidden gem!", its honestly really strange because we all know this is how it works at this point.
Not a single person ever had an issue with the plot of bl2 so stop projecting that narrative.
Everyone who played bl3 at launch said the gameplay was great no one ever claimed otherwise the plot was and is bad and gets in the way of the narrative.
TTW outside if the setting(which was already done in bl2 dlc) and spells is a downgrade in terms of class/builds, weapon manufacture, content, dlc and lack of ng+. If a new game ever released that view would not change.
