Am I the only one who hates the overworld?
Seriously, I was hoping for BL1/2/3 type fast travel.
Completed main quest in Flibble's dungeon? (just a random name provided from my buttocks) Okay, go take the portal to Brighthoof, unload your gear, buy new stuff, etc.
See a side quest in Flibble's dungeon. So, fast travel directly to Flibble's dungeon? NOPE.
You got to:
Leave brighthoof, slog through the overworld punching annoying random encounters all the way to the entrance of Flibble's dungeon (and no sprinting on the overworld).

It's an unneeded gimmick. Just let me teleport to the location I need to, and save the overworld for places you haven't yet been to yet... and let me sprint while running over it, too.

One of the shrines (the second one already I think) makes you move faster on the overworld map,

And you should never have to go through tall grass on the way to main areas to quest in, so I assume you exaggerated for effect there or I'm missing a main are that forces you through grass encounters.

Yeah it's a bit annoying, also not a fan - but at least you can teleport to the hub - and back to where you last where at with that portal in town.

The whole desert area can generate an encounter.

You can punch any encounter in the face before they spawn and be done with it.

Not very fond of it myself, but I don't think it's a dealbreaker for me.

I have never encountered a location I couldn't fast travel to yet. Just open the map choose a fast travel station just like classic borderlands.

Yeah, remember that you have to press F (i think it was F) once you open the map for WORLD VIEW. From there, you can pick any location, and then any fasttravel.

The Overworld PHYSICALLY is fine, but the MAP that the fast travel system uses feels terrible. I think the physical Overworld feels worse because neither of those options feel smooth and easy to use.

Especially on PC, because you don't actually click the locations... you drag the map until the location is centred, then press a button to load THAT map, then drag for placing custom markers etc... it's clearly designed for controller first because it feels awful to use with a mouse.

You can fast travel to places via the map. It has to be on World View and then click the zone you want to fast travel to and you can fast travel to any of the location devices.

I may not be far enough in for it to have truly annoyed me yet, but I think it's kind of a cool way to bring the player back to the DnD aspect.

no. you are not.

um if you go to Brighthoof via fast travel and then use the portal down by the docks it takes you directly to where you traveled from....easy peasy, no messing with the map nothing just back to where you were
