I rarely ever use my surround headphones in the summer due to the heat. But I might try it out this weekend just to see if I DO get a better volume.
there is only one reason this happens and that is incompetence from the devs. they straight up need to boost the volume by at least 5x
HeSuVi can setup "profiles" (HRIRs) :
"dht" and "nahimic-" work great for me for games / films
I don't have problem with central speaker and sub swapped when it's virtualized.
Maybe you can try it, the videolink is short (5mn) but all steps must be applied (virtal cable... all link for download are in the youtube description)
In the HeSuVi there's a button "7.1 Test", I tried a lot HRIRs to find for me wich is the best...
To decrease or increase the volume you can use volume² which will take care of the volume of the sound card and not the volume of the virtual cable which must remain at 100% and default device.

I dont see any fix for this coming anytime soon seeing as this has been a problem since it was released on Epic. And I also have a vague memory that I had the same problem on BL3 when it was released.
Thats not the point though. There are more things on your PC making noise than just the game. Say, for example, that a friend randomly calls me on Discord while I'm playing. My eardrums are just gonna explode if I max the volume on my PC. Just a random message on either Discord or even Steam is enough to burst my eardrums if I max out my volume.
I shouldnt need to max the volume to barely be able to hear the game. There is a reason why we are complaining, and trying to find a fix.
