I own several non Steam games, including this one & was wondering.
Dx12. Didn't know that 11 was more stable on the deck. Will try swapping next time I play TTW.
I was originally using dx12 but switched to 11 when I was hit with the gpu clock bug. Managed to sort that and it hasn't crashed since. Think dx12 might be a bit much for the steam deck. Not an expert so can know for sure.
So far as I'm aware it's mostly an case by case basis. Go for what you want to play then mess around with settings till your happy. If it won't boot then try different proton versions. The steam deck is great but it's not a switch and with Linux being so open and customisable there is some learning to be done. Steam seem to be pretty on it with support for the device so if a game doesn't work you can bet someone will be working on it, be it valve themselves or the community.
Hope you enjoy the deck.
