This game is just *bad*. I hit a wall today
One too many times I'm in the middle of a crowd of trash mobs and have to empty an entire magazine into each one while kiting backwards. It just isn't fun.

It's not *hard*. It's just tedious. The voice acting and story are aimed at 12 year olds, which is fine. The main character says dumb things I would never say, so I can't identify with what's going on, but that's OK too. The story and dialog in Borderlands 3 were pretty bad also, but the game was at least *fun*.

This is not tactically challenging. There is no point where you take a step back and think about which order to take the mobs down in to get closer to the objective. The game arbitrarily decides you've killed enough things, wipes the screen clear and says you've completed the encounter.

The vending system is buggy af and if you're not careful you'll end up selling your equipped gear without realizing it. There is no real rhyme or reason to how the gear integrates to make a better vs worse build. If you get lucky and get good gear, it can be fun. But at level 10 I should not have to be farming for incrementally less-crappy gear.

People say "it gets better when you're level $X", but why can't it be fun NOW? They really screwed the pooch on this. I figured B3 was the end of the franchise, and I think I was right.

This one goes in the bin.

Why would ever not be careful at any vendor in any game?

I’ve never farmed or felt I needed to. Not in any game except endgame maybe if after something specific.

No bl game was tactically challenging. Not sure where you keep getting that from.

Sounds like game isn’t for you. No shame. There’s plenty of others to play.

Mark your valued items with a Star (as mentioned above), then it won't sell. I mark every time ahead of time to a vending machine as either trash or starred, so I can just press X and it gets rid of the junk.

And yes, this game is a little harder (especially if you choose Insane mode) than say BL3 (which was fairly easy all things said). Having finished the game, I found the difficult to be a bell curve:
1) starts off easy
2) hits a plateau of difficulty about 20-30 hours in
3) drops off as you go and becomes again a bit easy 60 hours in

My total game time to find all items and even finish a few Chaos rounds was 64 hours, that's 8 hours of game time a day since release.

Yes, you hit it with your head, probably the most stupid thread I read for a long time.

I can agree that around lvl 10 gear is a bit too weak for the enemies of equal level. But this is not really a roadblock. More a slight roadbump as this is not how it stays.

If you’re that far off of knowing how to play a borderlands game then yes throw it in bin, having a challenge is one thing but several of those things you stated are just operator error, try coop maybe that will help you get thru.

For me the 2 things I don’t like are Overworld just because I don’t play table top games and they could have used the hugely BrightHoof better instead and the journal glitch to get to show up.
This game and it’s new features will draw new fans in and lose some old fans, no doubt about it.

OP made the fanboys mad by stating the truth of his experience. you guys can say whatever version of "git gud" to cope, but you can never take that away from OP. The encounters in this game are repetitive and bad and one of the main reasons I stopped playing. The mob density is hilariously bad for a looter game, too. Make sure to spend hours padding your playthrough of the campaign by scouring every zone for those dice and poems, too, unless you won't get jack in the end-game. Who decided to do this and to repeat it on every character, too? some of these design choices are baffling and just anti-player. It should've taken a play tester one playthrough on a fresh character to realize how bad this loot luck system is. Are we the playtesters?

I'm not even sure where to start, for one thing this has been the best borderlands experience for me since bl2. Bl3 teabagged me with so much snowflake/woke crap that it had me gouging my eyeballs out and stuffing bee's in my ears just to shut it out, all the while my soul is curled up in the fetal position waiting for humanity to grow up.

There was nothing wrong with the lvling of the first character, there were times that the weapons felt underwhelming but I found that if you swapped gear out very often not only do you get to use items you might not ever try but you end up killing faster. Yes at end game I feel like the mob density is far to low to let us make use of "area of effect" but I have faith this will be addressed based on intelligent feedback. I also pray that they link all characters on an account with at the very least your lucky dice unlocks.

Try not playing the game with the mind set of a serious game, borderlands at its best is satire and a fair bit of dark humour, so run around shooting things and giggling at all the rediculus things the enemy's and friendly's say and you will have a far better time.

It gets boring quickly. Chaos chambers have such little variety and there are so few items in the game that you get burned out quickly. It becomes finding a volatile version of something thats good. Problem is, most of the legendaries are bad, i've yet to find a good legendary AR and that cooling pistol is the only weapon you will ever need.

That’s end game in any game (not just bl games) for me. Loot isn’t enough for me to do anything more than once. I’d rather play a new game of something else entirely than repeat an endgame in any game.

The campaign itself I don’t find boring at all though.

I put in like 143 hours into BL2 (only like 1 play through of 3) and have like 65 in wonderlands and am already burned out. I just don't want to level another character and have to get all the dice and crap again.

There is also a distinct lack of loot variety in this "looter shooter".

Maybe the truth is that i'm past chasing numbers. Especially ina game that caps at 20 and has no true endless mode. Once you get to chaos 20, thats it - you're there until the next DLC when everything you farmed becomes junk.

Addendum: I played outriders roughly 2 times longer than wonderlands and feel I had a much better time.
