Aah it's an epic exclusive (pretty much confirmed)

Keep in mind I am not here to bash on Epic but just to confirm what a lot of people were concerned about recently. you can see there is only 4 platform choices : Xbox series X and S, Epic Games Store, PS5, PS4 and that's it. RIP. Now is it one year exclusive or 6 months like BL3 that's the question.

It's going to be a six-month exclusive deal at least I assume. There is no way Epic paid for 2 weeks and none of their other phoney exclusive games have been that short either.

I feel this argument is getting kinda tired. Players these days demand constant updates, or they'll whine on the forums about 'Gam Ded'. But development isn't free, so that leaves developers with two choices: DLC, or MTX. And to have good DLC, you need to at least plan it out before the game releases, although not necessarily start working on it. Eh, I'd much rather have DLC. A lot of DLC does meaningfully expand the game; with a popular game like Total Warhammer 2 or Stellaris, this can mean years of substantial content updates. Free updates too, not just paid; WH2 would usually sell a bundle of 2 paid 'Lords' paired with 1 free one.

With MTX, you can sometimes end up in a situation where the game keeps being monetized after all proper development has ceased, such as Heroes of the Storm or the more recent Skyrim and CoD editions.

Fun fact: On Saturn, which has a rotational period of about 10.5 hours, two weeks would be the equivalent of six Earth days. Not so here, however, so I assume you're high as a kite.

Last time epic spent 100+ million for the exclusivity of borderlands 3, we don't know how much they spent now, can be that its only a month and that the date listed on the webside is when TTW is for pre-order.

This is a very good point! I checked some upcoming games that are currently available for pre-order. For each of them, the date listed on Steamdb under "Store API Release Date" is the date the game launches, not the date it becomes available for pre-order.

I was thinking of not waiting and trying out Epic but you have convinced me otherwise. TY for that, it assuredly would have been a mistake. I do wish game developers would get some balls and just sell their game directly from their own website sans the stupid launchers like back in the day.

Yeah pretty much this.
Plenty of us have and use other stores. I'm installed Cyberpunk right now through GoG. That is and always was available on steam even though CDPR could use the 'first party IP' excuse for self publishing.
It's not about Steam. It's about the store straight up being bad. Last time I actually tried to purchase something from EPICstore I couldnt use paypal without a US CC associated with it. Even EA doesnt ♥♥♥♥ this ♥♥♥♥ up.
Not to mention Tim Sweeners ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ attitude and lies. Gabe Newell made a comment about NFTs being what they are, a scam and TimSweenhard just had to take the opposite position. How very thoughtful and pro-consumer.

Well for one gearbox has made dedicated server games. 2, if you are talking about just the BL games you never said that. You said "These online games" 3, there is actually a community push in some parts to make BL dedicated server to stop cheating, and it's not announced what TTW uses yet, so it is possible that TTW is dedicated server.

Edit: And I just remembered there is a mode with a scoreboard in this game, that keeps track of scores. So there is a possibility of going dedicated servers at least in that mode, to keep things fair, cause there is a lot of stuff you could easily cheat to get higher scores.

Steam release date is March 31, according to SteamDB. I'm just trying to prevent people from wasting their money at Epic Games Store. And Valve certainly doesn't have a problem with that.
