there is literally a game doing the exact same thing that uses entirely original assets called Metal: Hellsinger. The uniqueness factor of this game no longer exists, and its safe to call this game lazy when there is a similar game of blatantly higher quality. this game is most likely a cashgrab to cash in on the hype of Metal: Hellsinger because it doesn't come out til 2021. Just watch the trailer for it to see the stark difference in quality.
Hellsinger was announced in June - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDdIGZES1Wc
BPM was announced before that in April - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8J_6CTHKbIg
So you are wrong here about cashgrab.
Right now some of the weapons (sword) don't seem to sync with the music very well and that's gonna take you out of the experience pretty fast when your game is supposedly all about that. This can of course be fixed fairly easily though, I imagine.
More importantly the weapon sounds in general don't add anything to the music. You're just firing on the beat and even then the shotgun, for example, doesn't allow for any creativity with its steady slow rhythm. Compare that to how the first weapon you apparently get in BPM - the revolver - lets you actually play around with the music. That makes the start of the game a lot more interesting.
The developers are not lazy, I think to accuse them of laziness is genuine ignorance at the work that has still gone into this game. Also claiming it's "distasteful" is just silly, Epic gave these assets to developers to allow the work to live on, to give the game a legacy beyond itself, yes it's sad that Paragon died, but Epic decided to let it live on in their engine through the work of others who lack their resources, stuff like this is why they did it in the first place.
i honestly usually dont have a problem with ingame animations but some things just bug me and ths when games use the same animation for different guns..i mean cmon..it doesnt look good at all
im going to check out the demo and play it a while and see if i like it and might buy it but thats what bugged me so far
You go make a game and a unique concept and then get back to me......oh wait...
