you mean you've NEVER seen this Alien/monster in a ton of cheap indie asset flips?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/407420/Gabe_Newell_Simulator/
they're in this terrible game I linked.
enjoy.
PS - instead of a smary saracstic reply, you could've chosen to say nothing.
if you really cared what games I play... you can easily view this info on my profile.
you DO know not a single asset in the game was made by the devs, yeah?
it was a point of contention for a lot of players.
so i guess youmust play BPM blindfolded, since youi don't look at asset flips
im not condemining BPM for using assets, they paid for em and worked them in their own way - but that one monster is just bad.
BPM is more than that
everythign else in the game is fine.
this one monster is an overused free unity store asset, and it was depressing to see it in a game that turned another game's assets into something unique.
get a grip dude.

Yes, BPM is using premade assets
Yes, they bought the right to use these
No, it doesn't make BPM bad because of this
Yes, many games reuse assets, like sound, texture, coding libraries,
Yes, it's normal
No, they aren't lazy, they are a small indie team, and they focused on gameplay instead of nicer models
Look, books all use letters. The same letters.
But their arrangements create different stories.
Musics, they use sometimes the same drums sound instrument. The same free wave file.
However, they globally sound different and have their own individuality
There were two CDs that were VERY expensive, but you had the right to use those sounds. Now those CDs were popular in the late 90's to early and mid 00's. They used a lot of sounds, for example the clock tower from Majora's Mask, is one example. But since the assets or samples were bought, they could be used, and they have been used in so many video games (Spyro 1, 2, 3 Hub Worlds) and Cartoons. No one cared about it.
Even Akira Yamaoka, famous for his Trip-Rockish sound uses samples that he bought and overlays them with guitars.

Half-Life 2 uses the infamous screem sound from the Zombies that was in that CD i linked to you.

Now this isn't THE collection i wanted to link, but this is a whole pack of CDs that music, commercials, and video games use.
Also, even if they are used assets or not, i don't care, i bought the game today.
Oh and sampling is VERY popular in music, like Crystal Castles, Aphex Twin, DJ Shadow, Blazo, Boards of Canada, Death Grips, The Caretaker, Burial (Which not only takes Silent Hill 3 music, but also Metal Gear Solid 2) And the list goes on, and on, and on.

12:30 for Hub Worlds, and we all love the Hub Worlds music.
Also, anybody familiar with this? They should be:

i said the game is fine, and i said them reusing assets from another gam is fine.
y'all wanna be mad, be mad at yourselves for not reading.
sheesh
also game assets are not the same as the wilhelm scream.
get over yourself.
also also, it's extremely lazy when movie producers use the wilhelm scream, bc its an effin meme at this point.
cheers
FWIW I'm squarely in the "re-using assets isn't automatically bad" camp and I think this is an interesting fact. If anything I think I'm gonna be using this as another example of how using stock assets doesn't automatically make a game an "asset flip"; the term was meant to point out that the act of slapping assets together in a couple weeks is similar to property flipping, where people buy houses, do the bare minimum to increase their value, and re-sell them. BPM obviously has more love/care/design in it than that.
Also I enjoy when I hear Wilheim screams, but again, I'm not automatically reaching for a pitchfork every time I see a re-used thing. Anyone that does may as well be demanding that artists make their own art supplies from scratch.
