This may not be the case at all but; i also had this EXACT issue at one point. Long story short, much research later i found it was actually my GPU failing, and i had to replace it. The error "D3D device being lost" and "HUNG" is UE4 saying your graphics card has disconnected from the game (for what ever reason that may be). So to me this sounds like a hardware issue.
Sorry i couldn't be of more help then that, hopefully its not your GPU and i'm wrong.
Thank you very much but i fixed it but that was a weird one,
The game crashed my gpu driver and for some reason it refused to start so i had to reinstall the drivers again manual now it works again ^^
Ah, that's great to hear!
I was also having this issue in this and one other indie title. People offered up a number of solutions like changing registry values to increase time out allowance, or they would just say that it means your graphics card is faulty.
I was not looking forward to replacing a laptop since the mobile nvida systems arent independent cards.
I wish I had known it was this easy to fix instead of racking up 12 hours of play gambling against crashes in a rogue like that only saves at the start of the floor
yeah it took me a while to figure this out but i hope that this maybe helps some more people around
