Windows 7 Game Launch Failure
I have an older computer. Trying to install BPM. It won't launch. First gave no warning, just failed. I verified the installation files and ran the program as an administrator. The game failed with no copy of XInput1_4.dll. I found a copy online and placed it in the BPM folder. Then it failed with no copy of API-MS-Win-Eventing-ClassicProvider-L1-1-0.dll So I did the same thing, found a copy of the file online and placed it in the BPM folder. Now It's giving me a more generic failure notification.

BPMGame-Win64-Shipping.exe - Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the applications

I'm wondering if there's anything I can do short of getting a new operating system. I've been thinking of putting Linux on this machine anyway. I've kept windows 7 around so I can mod Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas, and sometimes there are games that don't work well with Proton / Wine.

1. delete those dlls
2. copy xinput1_3.dll from C:/Windows/System32, paste it into the BPM folder
3. then rename it xinput1_4.dll
4. launch from the BPM folder, not through steam (doesn't work through steam)

Works fine for me after that.

Thank you for this. I'll be adding my own two cents here, because I managed to fix the steam launch issue.

After fiddling out I figured that the game's likely looking for xinput1_4 in the Windows folder at launch, so I made that file in the System32 folder. After that it launches through Steam fine as well with no problems.

Adding the xinput1_4.dll file to System32 did the trick for launching through steam.

Thanks

Just making this renamed copy still works, thanks a lot! :)

Really happy to hear it's still working out for everyone playing on win7, cheers.

No matter what anyone else says, you choose the hardware and software you want to play with when it functions for you just fine.
