as of items that have no use for Odr, you can thank clueless devs for them. Any sane roguelike game does adapt for different characters, if in some details.
I had damage and luck maxed out, 7/9 range, almost no precision. I used the revolver up until Helheim II and then got the minigun. For equipment I had the 'one extra life' shield (which I didn't end up needing), the 'Strike to the beat' boots which I switched out for Giant Slayers when I got to Nidhogg, the helmet that does extra damage on perfect rythm and the bracelet that drops more coins. Skeleton key helped too.
I was also concerned about the wave attack that Nidhogg does in his second phase where the only way to avoid it is to dodge THROUGH it, which I never seem to be able to do. That's how I lost one of my runs on the last fight. But if you focus on damage stat upgrades and damage items and get a decent gun, you can melt through Nid pretty quick. I think I only had to reload twice.
TLDR: Practice and good RNG
