So about those Paragon assets..
While the concept is awesome and some of the stuff in the trailer seems be original content. How much of the game is using Paragon's models and weapons? And are they placeholder or permanent? It's not a huge issue or anything but it does stick out like a sore thumb compared to some of the stuff that seemed to be OG. Wouldn't it be better if it was all your teams own work instead someone else's necro'd work?

Rofl. It's not unusual to use premade models in games. Especially in indie games, since it's usually just one or a few people working on it. I'm sure you'd be welcomed if you wanted to work for them to make custom models though!
I started a thread about it and I was being literally attacked by almost everyone saying:

- You don't see the talent

- You don't know how hard it is

Well.. if this world admit lazy devs and they are even defended by people, if I were an original contnent creator, I'd feel very angry

did you complain when your shooty fps game used the same gun as every other game ( bc it;s a real world model )

yo can clearly see all the game assets from screenshots and trailers ( and YT vids )

so you didnt need ot buy it.

makes me wonder what got you so booty blasted to cmplain about the assets in the first place.

A small team doesn't work fast and sometimes corners have to be cut. Instead of focusing on those cuts, focus on the original content and what it's worth.

I'm not up to speed, so here's what I got so far: There was a game people probably liked but it got canceled. The assets were put up for sale. A developer bought these assets and included them in a sweet-ass game and somehow this is a problem.

That about right?
Game is good and it's all legal

To be more precise, Epic are owners of Paragon and Unreal Engine. Some months before Paragon died, Epic decided to release the game's assets for free on the Unreal Engine store for other devs to try them out and even use them in their projects.
The BPM team, comprised of mainly 2 devs, made their game in Unreal and decided to use some of these available free 3D models, probably to focus their efforts on more important aspects of the game.

When it's an asset-flip sh*t game I understand. Steam was swimming in those years ago, I have no idea if that's still a thing.

They weren't bought they're free. Whether it's a issue for some or not doesn't matter people are allowed to be entitled to their opinions. For me the topic starter I like the game and it's concept I just get pulled out everytime I see Serath's face ( a paragon hero) or I battle Sevarog.

Oh yeah for sure, but the thing is that I wouldn't call this an asset flip in that term.
Asset flip is usually meant for games like what you just mentioned, bad models that doesn't even fit together - here though the models are clearly well made and all fit together with the game's theme.
It CAN'T be an asset flip because this game actually HAS EFFORT put into it.

What difference does it make who made the assets? Things like that get outsourced often by smaller devs. As long as they are using the assets legally I don't see any reason to care about this.

This isn't merely a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ asset flip, there's actually a pretty good game here. Pretty interested to see if they run with this idea and develop something more in-depth with a BPM2 or something.

I'd buy it.
