Great game, performance could be better?(note the ?)

Im no developer, so take this with a grain of salt. That said, i wish this game was able to take advantage of modern CPU's better(specifically multi-threading performance) From what i've seen this game utilizes maybe 1 core(2 logical processers/threads) which seems to result in the game chugging when things get busy. Before the standard "maybe ur PC sucks bra" stuff comes, i will say i have 5900x+ 32gb 3733 cl14+ RTX 3080. CPU usage usually tops out ~12% utilization & in heavy scenes that amounts to ~40% GPU utilization, ~35fps. Again, i reallly like the game, but i FEEL like in 2024 games should be "optimized" to take advantage of the standard amount of cores at least(6-8). I Hope the dev can somehow work that out. All that said, i hope people do buy this game, the learning curve is relatively steep, but the payoff is great.

The main performance drain for me seems to be terrain, on purely naval engagements performance is fine.

I have been wondering about the performance as well. I have a 5800X with an RX 7700 XT and have my framerate regularly drop below 60, even at medium settings. The game looks like it's ten years old at least and I am absolutely fine with that. What I am not fine with is that it makes my computer feel like it's ten years older than it actually is.

You can easily compare performance on the Grim Reapers YouTube page, when they run 'Dance of the Vampires' both on DCS and Sea Power. Sea Power ist a stuttering hellscape whereas DCS run buttery smooth while looking better.

Same for me with 4090 and i9 13900k maybe 45 fps sometimes playing in 4k. It is not acceptable for the visuals.

Great game though.
