How to force a submarine ignore cavitation and go faster?
Is it 6 knots max at periscope depth?! Can't it go faster?

The key binds are listed in the settings. Unfortunately I don’t think there is any display in the UI for the position of manual commands which makes it a little difficult but similar to Cold Waters. I would like to see something in the UI eventually for control positions when taking manual control.

Edit: Since this is at the top, I’ll add what @rgreat added in another comment. Just hitting W/S apparently doesn’t give you manual control but if you hit A/D and instigate a turn it will.

Maybe, but why?

Is the sub engaging a target? That might slow it down to launch missiles.

Do the rest of the team know that you are over here fraternising on the enemies forums Cap'n? ;)
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Separate it from the group it is in and it will go the way you want it to.

Groups don't work for submarines.

Running away from a Torp, if near to maximum range, and If i'm not mistaken, a surfaced sub counts as a surface target, there are many Sub only Torpedos in the Game, if my sub would have ignored the cavitation speed and just get the hell out of the water and surfaced, it (maybe) would have survied.

You said at periscope depth, not surfaced...but I get it. And you are correct that some ASW torpedoes ignore surface targets.

i think ASW torpedos should also target surface targets.

With real US light weight torpedos they are programmed to avoid the surface zone where friendly surface ships are. This allows them to be launched in the middle of a convoy or task group.

I bet it could be disabled if the situation dictates.

Better question, does the game consider a sub to be a sub regardless of depth? Tactic might not work period in that case.

I said periscope depth? Where?
In my case, my sub was at max depth, and i ordered it to surface, the closer it came to the surface, the slower it went, getting hit just a few seconds from being surfaced.
An Alpha can out run a light torp. Dam the cavitation. They obviously know we are here.

There are times where you need to ignore this limit, as SimpleSauce says, you can force it to ignore it. Here is a scenario:
Near the surface a helo drops close ish to you. You do not want to go deep at 6 knots so override the set speed by taking control and max out speed and dive deep. they already know you are there so get the hell of of the way of the initial drop. You can then do a 90 / 180 turn when deep and creep back up to find where the helo launched from, assuming you don't already know. Of course, if something has got close enough to launch a helo that has found you, if you don't know what it was, you are already in trouble, they know you are there and are going to prosecute or turn away. Either way, your mission just got a whole lot harder.

My only question now is does the game model knuckles?

Look at your title post. That's what threw me off. There is a max speed for operating masts (going faster would rip them off).
