No nukes needed or wanted.

Makes no sense, nuclear torpedo is not only standart and not some "speciality weapon" but also its tactical. Clearly you don't know much about nuclear doctrine at sea during cold war.

Why Early Access?
“We are entering Early Access as we plan to add additional features and also improve upon the game with feedback from the players”
Approximately how long will this no game be in Early Access?
“We plan to be in Early Access for 8-12 months.”
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“We are planning to add additional features, units and systems during Early Access. We will communicate the planned roadmap to players in steam dev blogs and on the steam page.”
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“Refer to the "About This" section of the store page for information for a better understanding of the current state of the game.”
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
“Currently we have no plans to increase the price at this stage.”
How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
“We will engage the community with blogs, whilst we monitor the steam forums and our discord for further feedback.”

What part of that do you not understand?

Indeed. There were even nuclear AA missiles as well. The thinking was that we'd go tactical nuke first so torpedoes, artillery shells and AA missiles were all devised tso that we could all go tactical with nukes before the strategic exchange.

It's a very good job it never happened. Tactical use of WMD were planned for. But I can understand why they're not present in a tactical wargame such as this. That's pretty much a wipe of the OpFor after spotting them which wouldn't be much fun.

NO!!!
Bobjr Nov 14, 2024 @ 3:18am
The developers have mentioned it a few times here and there, but it's not on the store page: They are distinctly against having nuclear weapons in the game, as they have deemed it to be not fun, as a single nuclear warhead could just end a scenario. So don't expect to see any nukes in the game unless someone mods it in.

Regarding my knowingabout.....
I do remember some plotting of nucleair explosions during exercises in my function as CIC operator in the Dutch Navy back in the early 90's. ;)

What I meant was is that the step into (tactical) nuclear usage will probably trigger an strategic response... therefor not within the scope of this game!!

I get the no fun point. That said, I'd like to have tactical nukes. Not for the power fantasy but because I play this kind of game in order to experience how an actual war would have played out. I'm not much of an expert on the naval side of this but looking at cold war land doctrine and equipment, much of that makes sense only if you keep in mind that both sides factored in that tactical nukes are part of the battlefield reality. (spacing between formations, infantry dismounting doctrine, etc.). If we are not talking strategic nukes, the "smaller" ones wouldn't have wiped out the entire opfor in one big bang. So, formation spacing would probably look different if nuclear torpedoes, etc. were a realistic threat.

Oh well, it is a nice to have, though and certainly not a priority.

Well, once the game starts veering towards finishing early access, the modding tools should become increasingly extensive, so if we're lucky some kind modder will put nukes in the game and then we can try it out.

and yet someone just made a post about nukes being wanted

i say the devs at least should give us nuclear torpedos and depth charges even if they don't give us Megaton level nuclear weapons

If this were a strategic-level game, I'd be for it, but it's a tactical sim. No need for an instant "I Win" button with no other consequences.

I find the nuke button a suspense killer
mccoyco64 Nov 14, 2024 @ 7:11am
Maybe they wanted the game to last more than 30 seconds?
