ASW Helicopters
Anyone else having trouble getting ASW choppers to do the ASW stuff? Can't get mine to drop sonobuoys or use the dipping sonar. They also seem to be flying around pretty fast.

I have had no problems.
Are you trying to have something other than an SH-3 operate its dipping sonar on the US side?
Also, I have not tried the Soviet side much yet.

What is the scenario and which helicopter?

Yes I am. Just bought the game and can't get the SH-3s in the Charlies scenario to drop sonobouys. When I use shift-RMB or ctrl-RMB it just sets a new waypoint.

I want to know what the long wire is that sticks out the back of the helicopters with the orange basket thing on it when you fly at 50ft? Not a dipping sonar obviously because it only happens when you move. Is it some sort of active sonar? Never seen it before.

It the MAD (Magnetic Anomaly Detector). ASW planes also have it in the "stinger" at the rear of the plane. Very short range and use the disturbance in the Earth's magnetic field caused by the steel in a submarine. You need to have the helicopter set to the lowest altitude and order it to move for it to work. If they detect something it will say it and message will come up in the log.

Have you selected the buoys before CTRL- or ALT- Righ click?
and the commands you listed are for setting multiple way points
