How to use RA 5 C recon jet?

Yes, flying in the upper heights help. It has optical, FLIR (?) and radar.

On the downside, kind of short legged because of a lack to refuel while airborne, in game.

Originally designed as the A-5, nuclear bomber that held fuel and nuclear weapon in a ventral bay between the engine. It was kind if a cool concept but in practical use, didn't work as designed, so they put lots of reconnaissance electronics in her instead

The RA-5C is also very fast at low altitude if I remember. Can be useful for evasion that way.

I had one shot down near Guam, I guess they aren't SR-71 hi and fast, oops.

Definitely not, and their sensors were mainly designed for medium altitude. I've had success with them in game approaching low and high subsonic. Then pop up to 10K ft and go to burner to make the photo run. Then back down to low with burner to egress. If I remember it has decent ECM for the timeframe, so as long as you don't stay exposed too long it should evade most.

LOL. I lost one near Guam also. Guam is dangerous to this aircraft I guess.
