Aircraft struggling to land on carrier?
Why is it when I give aircraft an RTB order they fly back to the carrier group and then spend forever flying a circuit pattern around the carrier. They'll keep flying round the carrier for 20-30 minutes before eventually deciding they can land. Am I missing something stupid here?

Air deck operations upgrade Mod in the workshop fixes this. Great Mod and works well. Just search in workshop.
May not be related but I had to slow the carrier/group down in order for them to land.

Some of the carriers have poor landing patterns for planes , I tested the Nimitz class and its 6 minutes at present between landing plane and next plane going into the landing pattern

Its not the number of lifts , its the flight paths generated for the dif carriers (some like the Nimitz carrier need a rework) ie 60+ minute to land 10 planes on that carrier is clearly not right. The devs need to fix the flight paths generated for landing on some of the carriers

The Kitty Hawk when I tested this its only 1 minute between a landing plane and the next plane entering the landing pattern. so about 20 minutes to land 10 panes

EDIT
I think its only the Nimitz class that still has this issue

No, it's just not optimized yet. I suspect the next patch will be a big one and will correct a lot of issues, this probably being one of them.

On the bright side your pilots are getting a crazy amount of flight hours.

It was a nimitz class I was using, so that would explain it. Glad it's a bug (that's hopefully getting fixed) and not me missing something stupid lol. thanks man.

I'll give it a look. Thanks!
I tried the air-deck operations mod too, it's great!

Only tried with a Nimitz class carrier though, also not sure if it applies to PACT ships yet? Either way still great mod

I think there's individual mods for different CVs, even the soviet ones. Don't quote me on that though. I'm on pain meds.

There are individual mods for each carrier but the air deck operations mod condensed them all into one mod, even the Soviet carriers. Honestly one of the best mods yet.
