Sea Power

Why so much for early access?
Just curious why the game is the price of a triple a title nearly, for an early access title? Usually, from my experience, early access is cheaper, as you have to deal with bugs and unfinished products, etc etc. Then at launch of 1.0 you increase the price.

Just curious why they decided to go for nearly top dollar in early access.

It's $12 off for the winter sale and that's the cheapest I've seen it even after release.
Arguably that money goes for further development, and at least Triassic/Micropose are known studios and not likely to pull a bait and bail

Never bought Bauldurs gate 3, but not really into that game.

I bought Arma 3 Dayz, and Squad and a few other games in early access, they were all like 20 each, once they hit full release they all tripled in price(as expected)

Early access was welcomed because you got a discount while reporting the bugs. Now we pay full price for an unfinished game? Im gonna buck the trend, Ill check back when this is completed and on the 2026 Christmas sale list.

That's not a bad idea, actually. Unlike some that can't fathom that an EA title really isn't designed for serious playthrough s, you will save yourself the hassle of the bugs and quirks that most are complaining about because they apparently don't know what EA means.
Have you seen how big the game is already? Do you have any idea how much this costs? Of course they will do early access. They get to show the publisher and the investors how much profit they are going to make when the full version and other titles in the future franchise are released.

That is all fine and dandy. I was just asking why it was that much in early access, because games once released, usually increase in price, but then drop massively for sales.

I will wait for full release to buy this. I have plenty of games to pass the time. I have no issue spending money on a video game. I choose not to pay a premium price tag for an unfinished product-the same way I choose not to pay for pre order products.

I merely asked a question and I got my answer. I am a patient person. I can wait years until the price reflects a target point or the game reflects a state that I dont care about the price tag.
