Sea Power - Modern Warships Era
Can you imagine how amazing a game like this would be if you had Navies of today up until what's projected until say 2030, Arleigh Burkes FLT III, Type 055s, 052s etc., in it would be, would be absolutely incredible.

Yeah, would be hard to describe, all of the options, nations, units, etc., it would be epic to say the least, all of the drones and stuff, with the electromagnetic catapults. Hypersonics, ASBMs, etc.

Not really mate, all the UK, US to a lesser extent, and other Nato powers trimmed their navies, got rid of a lot of powerful but expensive warships, so if your looking at a modern timeline you just have a lot less options in terms of naval hardware, other than subs and aircraft. For some this would be boring. Oh and the US would dominate all open ocean conflicts, so no challenge and near impossible for any rivals (realistically). But hey if you want F 35's, stealth ships etc go for it
Hard enough already to get somewhat believable performance data for some of the systems that essentially are 50 years old at this point.

Are we going to base something like the F-22 on tall tales published about it over the years, or rather on the fact that it managed to shoot down a weather balloon on the second attempt?

At any rate, not going to get anything reliable, what is out there for the public is fiction at best.

And from a gameplay perspective, your carrier exploding because of a hypersonic missile you could see but not do anything about, missiles appearing out of thin air... sounds more frustrating than anything else to be honest.
