Planes can't land back on carriers?
Doing a mission, sent my planes out to deal with enemy air... bringing home to rearm and they just fly around the carrier instead of landing...

What does it say on the CV flight deck? If it shows them as landing then you probably just haven't waited long enough.

I definitely waited long enough, "Returning to base" Then they just circle I had it on fast forward on x50 for at least 8-10 minutes, just circle.

I had the same issue. I was running a missions using 2 Russian Orel's against a US task force. I managed to wipe out task force, but no before they managed to sink one of my carriers. Well, I had some Mig-23's up in the air from the sunk carrier and hey would not land on the carrier that was still in the fight and they would not respond to "rebaseing." Hopefully they will fix it.

Maybe you were exceeding the maximum capacity of the carrier?

If you have too many aircraft in the air, it will take a while before all of them are recovered to the carrier. They don't just fly in. They are all assigned a landing pattern (visible of the Flight Deck as something like "In landing pattern/sequence". If you click on the aircaft icon it will show you the pattern as waypoints and a flight path (line). This will keep changing until the aircraft is on final approach. They all have to be brought down to the correct approach altitude and speed. Then there is priority landing - aircraft which are low on fuel are given priority over others even if other aircraft have been RTB-ed by the player.

I guess It just takes a ♥♥♥♥ ton of time then, I just ended up giving up because it didn't happen in like 10 minutes on x50

landing aircraft takes really really long. if you have 20 jets you want to land from a huge attack. it could take you 3 hours in real time.

I have the same problem. I sat at like +30 or 50 speed for around 10 minutes and they just circle and circled even when all of them are bingo fuel. I feel like the code can't handle more than around 5 to 8 aircraft in a pattern before it gives up.

I think what's going on is something like, once the planes are in a holding pattern they only "check in" on the landing queue once per rotation and the carrier will only accept so many in queue at a time. Slower aircraft like E-2s and S-3s also seem to severely slow down recovery ops.

In my experience if the RTBing aircraft are in a single formation the holding pattern logic seems to do a better job sequencing the landings, quickening things up a bit.

I've also noticed some glitchy behavior. Planes that begin their final approach but never descend and just forever continue flying low-and-slow with the gear down completely unresponsive to commands. Or when attempting to launch with aircraft in recovery queue sometimes a launching plane will move onto an elevator and get stuck, permanently disabling flight deck ops.

If necessary it may help to use the F10 debug mode to add fuel to your planes so they will respond to manual orders again, or self-destruct in the case of those elevator campers

I was bringing my F14's home from a sortie, they didn't need fuel or anything, I think It's just glitchy.

Just last night I successfully conducted a coordinated strike in the Strawberries Can Kill scenario with 11 A-6s, 4 EA-6s, and 10 S-3s supported by multiple E-2 patrols, F-14 CAPs, and an RA-5 all based off a single Nimitz. Had no problems launching or recovering aircraft at all, but it did take several in-game hours (actually more like a whole-ass day lmao). I was't playing with mods, though.

In the future try pressing F10 to enter debug mode. There you will find lots of useful info on the unit's status that may shed light on exactly what's going on

I'm experiencing this same issue and it's not a stacked landing queue. Planes aren't entering the landing pattern after being sent RTB. I have Tomcats flying with their hook down at -120 ft :)

This happens to me when I use the Helo's off the Carrier. It will spin around in circles, where the carrier was when it took off trying to land with no ship there. And, no jets have been able to enter the pattern since that time.

This may be because of the CV mod that clears the deck and allows 4 elevators to be used. And this is happening on the mission where you try to stop the Russian fleet from entering the Indian Ocean.

I'll try removing that mod and see if I can reproduce. Any other ideas?
