The better graphic of Sea Power is also a major difference.

I enjoy both, but for different reasons. DW is more of a study sim where you control a single unit in high detail, as per specialist crewmen, whereas SP is more of an operational commander's game where you command multiple units and the specialist actions are controlled by AI. Example: in DW you can monitor & adjust the waterfall displays for sonobuoys and towed arrays, so as to establish contacts, whereas that's all automatic in SP. A more direct comparison is with Command:MO which IMO is also excellent.

Command: Mo is a copy of HARPOON. It does not fit in that conversation as the controls and the representation are not the same. DW, CW, Fleet Command, and SP compare well.

Well, hardly a copy of Harpoon, but undoubtedly a spiritual successor. The point is they both are about managing multiple units, task forces, etc, and don't involve in-depth control of any single unit. Sea Power is similar to that concept, as simple control of multiple vessels is the mechanic.

Dangerous Waters is quite different in that it's only about a single unit, and allows the player to play the role of various specialist crew stations, e.g. Bridge, Sonars, Radar, TMA, etc. A study sim. The closest equivalent might be Cold Waters which is also about managing a single unit, though it's not so much a study sim.

Dangerous Waters allows you to sim several units in parallel during the same battle and at several station, not just one unit as you mentioned. But the post is about Sea Power and if you liked Dangerous Waters, Cold Waters, Fleet Command, SSN and Harpoon you are likely to enjoy Sea Power's UI, physics, game play and its graphics.

Comparing DW to SP, is like comparing ARMA to a RTS.
Not the same thing.
But if you love naval warfare, you will love sea power.

Well I've owned DW since it first launched, and I never knew that! Different stations sure, but I've never known how to swap vessels inside a scenario. Any pointers?

I did not like or play Dangerous Waters and love Sea Power.
Two different types of games. DW is a Sub Sim for the most part where you are driving and controlling Stations for one Unit. Sea Power is more Like Harpoon, Command, and Fleet Command where you are commanding and directing several units, not driving them.

Maybe a clever mod will make some simple first person views for various platforms. I definitely see a first person periscope view a la Cold waters in the pipeline

In multiplayer you can play several units when you have several PC's in a lan party. That is when the fun really starts!

😂 It's a Sub sim
Dangerous Waters is a surface ship sim, sub sim, helicopter sim, plane sim and submarine sim, all oriented toward naval warfare, where you can micro manage individual vessel and/or like in naval command give mission order with different degrees of control. Sea Power is a good base with great graphics to address many aspect of Naval Warfare. Now DW had a 400 pages manual as thick as The Bluejacket's Manual. DW was designed for a very specific type of simmers. Sea Power offers many possibilities of tactical fun for more people. So if you enjoyed many years ago DW, you will enjoy SP like a walk in the park or a milk run.
