Yep also refunded.
I am well aware this is early access. I have had this on my wishlist since 2021 but this definitely needs a little more time in the oven for me to enjoy it.

If you bought it and you are happy with your purchase I'm happy for you. Our opinions differ and that is ok.

This is not at the level I had hoped it would be at this stage. I'm sue I will end up buying it further down the line when it's had more time for development. I'm not prepared to spend money on this right now and have something I won't play.

Some nice scenarios, but yeah it feels empty. I'm sure it will be great in time. I'll wait for a sale.

Someone said that the devs had run low on money. I'm not sure if that is the case.

I've no idea the sort of deal they have with MicropProse, what the rev share is etc but if this was launched now to make some money to continue development I truly hope they have enough die hard fans to make it work.

I fear some of the parallels made of this and KSP2 could be the case. I hope for this projects sake it isn't though.

The difference is that this seems to be built on solid grounds, while the KSP2 development was dishonest (lies about multiplayer, etc) and incompetent (focus on flashy hooking graphics instead of underlying mechanics) from the get go.

It doesn't compare to the KSP 2 fiasco IMO, the development history before EA release had plenty of delays and change of development studios, the release was a very unplayable cluster-you-know-what, very large promises (and price tag) with plenty of excuses and poor delivery until the plug was pulled and the developers were all canned AFAIK and since that time nothing but tumbleweed as to if there is any future, even though it is STILL being sold at AA pricing both on steam and their own website without a whiff of any troubles and the originals promises there for all to read.

The rejuvenated Microprose have so far been solid with their delivery on titles and very supportive of the more indy developer, while the developers made a very decent product in cold waters before this. In short the background reads well and gives confidence for the future. Very different from the disaster of KSP2 - RIP Jeb and co.

That's a very fair summary and I agree for the most part MicroProse have been on a good trajectory and form with the games they have chosen to support. I have quite a few on my Wishlist still and have bought quite a few they've done.

Perhaps I'm being too pessimistic and having just refunded the game feeling a bit down heartened. I do truly hope that it will live up to the expectations and the devs do have form (though it was quite a while ago).

Yep a very fair point. And in hind sight not really worth drawing a parallel to KSP2. I guess as I waited since 2021 I can wait another 6-12 months :D

I personally feel its actually fairly similar to KSP2. not so much that that the devs are scamming. But come on people you have to be honest. the game looks OK (like KSP2) but the core functionality/gameplay is just full of bugs or not working at all. the easiest thing to make in this game are the graphics/ships. The hardest are the systems and they dont work.

plus we cant really say the game has an AI. its all very basic. if detect incoming missile -> intercept missile and then try to hit enemy ship.

Then I guess I got lucky, 4 missions in played through to the finish, a little irritation with formation control but that may be down to unfamiliarity. The systems under the hood which for the most part are autonomous feel like they function fine, no doubt there will be refinements to come I am having a blast, feels similar to harpoon original but in 3d, and with that I disagree, KSP2 and this are polar opposites, both in playability and confidence for the future imo,
