It looks like AI is not able to do anything, then follow a predefined path and shoot it weapons. So its mostly based on the missions you can create.
It took me maybe 20 minutes to get comfortable with the interface in my first game. Then I basically parked a small naval group of destroyers and cruisers off the coast of an island and laid waste to everyone on the island.
Midway is very straight forward. There are torpedo bomber, fighter, bomber. Here on a Carrier there are several types of planes with deifferent loadouts for different roles.
Also some Destroyer are good at submarine warfare, an other has longrange anti-ship missiles.
So its initial a lot harder to understand the designated roles of the units.
Oh if it’s anything like Jane’s Fleet Command, I’m sold. Loved that game!
