Sea Power

Sea Power

Triassic Games vs Killerfish Games?
What is the difference between these two developers? The Cold Waters devs (Killerfish Games) are making War on the Sea, yet Sea Power is being made by Triassic, with the lead dev from Cold Waters, and published by MicroProse.

Was there a split? I noticed in CW some of the merchant ships have containers marked "Triassic" so I don't think that's the case.

Regardless I am looking forward to both of these games!

Yes there was a split. In short both sides had different idea's for the next game and it was concluded to split and each make their own games. There is more to this but I won't be explaining it.

I co-founded Killerfish Games back in 2013-14 with Paul Sincock, and due to creative differences he did not desire continuing on with the team that built Atlantic Fleet and Cold Waters. I secured the rights to use our assets from the Killerfish backlog in early 2019, which is when we seriously started developing Sea Power, and he must have started WotS a few months after that.

If you go to the KFG site about section today, it no longer mentions me as co-founder, but this archived snapshot from before the WotS launch does does[web.archive.org].

As for Triassic, originally we had picked a different studio name, but there was another company blocking us, so we changed to Triassic instead. Why Triassic? Because dinosaurs are awesome!

I am sorry about the split but looking on the positive side that means we get two new awesome fleet games (hopefully) instead of one. Win win for the genre!

Of the two games, I'll have to say that this one looks a bit more innovative and fresh. Really looking forward to how it plays.
Tirassic seems to aim more for authentiticy - which I certainly prefer - and they are aiming less for the mobile game approach of Killerfish.

I know it sounds silly, but you had me at "MicroProse".

Being a PC gamer since the very beginning, they were my absolute favorite publisher.
