A True Fan's Take: Borderlands 4 Deserves a Shot
I've been a die-hard Borderlands fan since I was a kid (console and pc), playing through all the games (except the Pre-Sequel which didn't quite hit the same). So when I heard Borderlands 4 was coming out soon, I was stoked!

But what really gets my goat is seeing all these whiny posts trashing the upcoming game, assuming it's gonna be a total dud. I think this is just residual backlash from that godawful Borderlands movie that bombed so hard. People are making unfair leaps that the game will suck too. Newsflash - it's NOT the same thing!

To the devs, don't let all these armchair critics get in your head. Most of 'em are probably bandwagon fans who never understood the quirky humor and tone Borderlands has always had. The cringe comedy is 100% intentional and part of its charm! None of the games took themselves too seriously, not even the first one.

So to all you naysayers out there, pipe down with your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and assumptions until you've actually played it. Quit posting hot takes for clout. And honestly, can we do better than this entitled negativity that's so prevalent these days? Geez.

I agree that a lot of flak comes from those that watched the movie. They take what happened with it, combined with the issues of BL3 (that have been discussed at length), will continue with BL4. After both they solidly believe there is no redemption.

As for me, Enjoying 1, 2, and even TPS as well as the gameplay of 3 (plus better writing and characters with the DLCs), I will not judge a game that is not yet out. There is still potential for them to recover Borderlands.

So I say wait and see before making decisions. Do not judge that which does not yet exist.

We only have seen a "not actual gameplay" video (teaser) and a logo, but we have seen how bad they have treat the franchise and the fans, especially on Steam. They treated Steam users like second class citizens, but they crawled back (like many others).

They totally deserve the negativity, especially Randy Pitchford.

*I am a seasoned ♥♥♥♥ eater, this game is great news!*
Get out of here. Everything they made since 2 felt like a step back and even in the wrong direction. I'd like it to succeed but i'm at best highly sceptical, most of us are.

ooof, you're really missing out.

It revealed the potential to add more to the BL series than any other BL game.

Jetpacks.

Turning a 2d game series into 3d.

Of course they barely scratched the surface with it in TPS.

They could have expanded on it ten-fold in BL3 and beyond and made those games so much better.

But no...

don't pretend Tales from the new Borderlands didn't come out afterwards. And maybe don't ignore Tiny Tina's Wonderland also came out. What did you see in those two games and BL3 that gives you any hope? i'm half expecting they'll make BL 4 into a Helldivers 2 clone because that's apparently what the kids are into.

I didn't pretend about anything. I kept my response to the main games in the franchise.

The point is, nobody can say as a fact if the game will be good or not (or anywhere specifically in-between) because IT DOES NOT YET EXIST. They have a chance to fix the prior issues. I am not saying it is a guarantee, only a chance. I will do the mature act and wait for facts to make a decision on instead of jumping on a bandwagon whining about something that hasn't happened yet.

You don't have hope and that is fair. But I am allowed to make an informed decision when the time comes. My 'hope' should not matter to you.

The game will get a shot... if the game is good as is more like the good games in the series it will do well. If it's in the same vein as BL3 though... have fun amigo!

Pre-Sequel was more a Borderlands game than 3 wished it was.

I'd say they're on thin ice

too early to judge bl 4 but stay cautious

Didn't even see the movie. Ava and the exclusivity deal did it for me.

Pretty much this. Lots of potential, but BL3 hurt the reputation a lot, even with the good gameplay.

Fans of the series, and those for/against BL3 specifics, will be paying very close attention to info as it comes out for BL4. I do hope it works as the game universe and story (before BL3's tearing it apart) still have me vested to find out.
