Hi!

As promised, today's blog will be a quick game progress update.

In the past weeks, I have completed map transformation. There is now a complete final map in the game that changes through time. I wanted to create a unique atmosphere where you can see a time change. I think that similar games have a time system in place, but you don't really »see« or »feel« the time change.

I have created eight unique hand-drawn images that represent the map and change through time. You can see some of the changes down below. This is a completely new map design and also a final one! So no more changes! 😉

You can also see in the second picture how the map will look through world war II, where theaters will be forced to close down, and you will have to be a little more resourceful with your money.

And in this last picture, you can see a rebuilt city slowly starting to get bigger and bigger!

I have also created a water shader to make water more believable and started work on a simple pedestrian and traffic system. The latter will spawn more cars with time to simulate an increase in traffic.

Lastly, there is also a new task that I have added. I have to make new sets since the old ones, unfortunately, do not fit anymore.

Update would be nice!

Dev, I beg you start making an update on your game, I am now getting this feeling your doing what others had done. That is making an game for steam for people to buy then to find out your no longer making it!

Hi!

First I want to say that the game is still in development! 😊 But since December many things have changed in my personal life.

A big part of my time is dedicated to college and this semester due to the pandemic things have changed a lot… I have to take daily tests that I need to complete to go on final exams.

I have personally misled you too many times with different release dates that didn't come to fruition. Therefore I have decided that I will completely stop giving release dates on the game until it is ready. I want the game to be complete and not a rushed mess with cut corners.

I also understand that this can be frustrating for you, and after a long thought, I have decided to be completely transparent and post progress updates at least once per month.

Here is the rough list of features that still need to be completed. Once all of them are finished, the game will be near completion, left with only the final bug and playtesting.

Movie World Developer Blog 8 - Progress

Hello everyone! This is an eight blog post on the game called Movie World.

Today's blog will be a little different from the rest, as you will see.

I wanted to include You more in the whole development process, so I decided to create a blog where I will talk purely about my work on the game.

I have a huge problem with moving on in this game. I realized that I always come back and upgrade old mechanics, add small new features, etc. This stops me from completing the game. The game was, in my eyes, already complete last year in December. There was a simple but effective loan system, simple financial system, message bar, technology system, and a movie production loop. But, because I learned so much in those 6 months on game development and got so many new ideas, I decided to continue my work on the game. After all, this game is first and foremost my own passion project.

Sneak peek of the current map ;)

I planned the next 5 blogs to be about the in-game movie production loop. Pre-production, production, post-production, distribution. Sadly it does not feel right to post these blogs and completely reveal the main in-game loop, as I don't want to spoil too much. Unless you really want me to post them. I still plan to post at least 2 new blogs about the game progress instead of these blogs, and on schedule, as intended, continue to release more blogs in March. I also hope that the game will be almost if not completely ready by then.

Several questions

Will this be like The Movies from Lionhead where you can actually make and view your movies and perhaps post them? If so will you have a sandbox mode? What is your development status? Any ballpark date for initial release? Steam is showing 2 similar projects. One hasn't updated anything for 2 years while the other is very active and may be close to announcing a release date. Just want to know where you guys are with this....
