This is not a problem. You play the base game for free. Like it? Then get your hand in your pocket. Don't like then there is a thing called uninstall that can easily remedy the situation.
This game is NOT free to play. Only a part of it is free to play.
GUILD WARS 2: They even have an option to trade your gold for gems if you want. I´ve basically purchased everything I ever wanted with gems and I didn´t even play much.
What are you talking about? There is no way new players will able to make enough gold to buy gems. They will be struggling to make a few silver never mind a mountain of gold.
Also the full game is NOT free to play and that's a fact weather or not other games follow the same format it's still a fact and the advertised F2P is misleading the buyer.
Look at it this way. I finished most of the base game content on one character within a week but the stuff hidden behind a pay wall I have been playing for months and am still at it.
The add should be changed to something like 'FREE TO TRY'
Living world episodes....which they are currently giving for free.
Fixed it for ya.
Also worth noting that Icebrood Saga (the last LW season) has been already unlocked for free.
Also i still dont know why this discussion exists in the first place. Is it just here to hate on the game or to tell false infos?
Vanilla game (lvl 1-80)
PvP (still relevant specializations)
WvW (still relevant specializations)
Can convert gold to gems, gems to missed content (need to own expansions in some cases) and other spices things (STAY AWAY FROM THE GEM STORE TILL YOU"RE WELL READ)
Buy one expansion, get one free.
No gear treadmill, exotic gear can access everything, its more about skins aka fashion wars.
Making gold is part of the game, like learning to pvp, wvw, or pve, making gold here is the same. e.g. there is a festival on atm of writing this, you get chests for partaking in events, 50 chests sells for 10g+- or open those chests and stand a chance of getting an infusion that sells for 3k gold+ on the trade post (-15% tea tax), among some other useful stuff.
A well designed game system, that after almost 10 years, starting areas are STILL populated with players from all over the spectrum. (level scaling, map rewards, dailies, etc).
Super friendly and helpful community and if that fails then the gw2 wiki is your guide.
fractals(pve) tier 2, tier 3 dailies, 15-20mins, 10gold+- per day.
Its an mmo that allows you to access everything* and play it at your own pace.
Skins are bragging rights in this game. not the stats.
Combat is more action based than your standard mmo, more moba type combat, than mmo stand still and rotate for yonder.
I want to clarify on this: you NEED to own one or both expansions in order to play the Living World episodes. Unlocking them as a free 2 play won't grant you the access to the new maps. You can hop into some other player's instance and play the story content with them even if you don't own the expansions but that's it.
