I know about that too but when time is an issue, Dry Top's rich node isn't the best given it is locked behind the meta. Depending on your timing you may find it open but chances are you won't. The Crystal Oasis one is accessible 24/7 though.
Edit: just wanted to add that for a f2p player the Oasis is a no-go, sadly.
And there are bugs that have been in the game for 5-6 years and yes they don't particularly bother fixing them but you mentioned an ongoing issue for a year that blocks your progress.
Yet you still haven't mentioned which that is. Nobody likes bugs, many people turn a blind eye to them though. A bug blocking progress with anything, no matter how small or big it may be, is something that's universally hated. So when you say that such a bug exists, while I know they fix those within the first few days, I expect an answer as to where that bug is and what it affects.
Tons of things like this in every aspect of this game. Boils down to a lack of pride/skill in the finished product, stagnant imaginations, and a mindset of looking at the customer base as a flock of sheep at best. The idea of making things "fun" isn't even on the radar.
Do not offer this product to regions outside of NA and EU. If a customer's ping to both Frankfurt (EU) or Ashburn (NA) is 100-150+, then GW2 is a BAD purchase, and negligent sale on ArenaNet's part.
I live in Western Australia and play on 215ms to Frankfurt. I have muddled through enough content to earn legendary raid armor. I've played enough fractals to have a personal fractal level of 100. I am on the cusp of Platinum in sPVP. Those who have spectated elite NA teams vs elite EU teams during Teapot's Global MOTA tournament will understand what I am talking about. Ping is a serious issue in high-end content. It is an insurmountable disadvantage in PVP.
@Arenanet do not offer the product to us without the necessary infrastructure for >150 ping.
I don't know what bug the other poster was referring to but I can tell you about one that's stopped my own progress.
I'm among a number of people who experience a consistent disconnect toward the end of the longest story instances. We spend up to two hours playing through a story instance only to be disconnected minutes away from the end. There's no certain solution on the player's end. ANet has basically stated they won't do anything about it until they have enough information to fix the underlying bug. We've been giving them all kinds of information about it for years, but I understand that networking bugs are especially difficult to diagnose and fix. However, the crux of the issue is that they could solve this problem forever and make story instances way more reliable overall if only they added some kind of checkpointing to save progress within an instance. They don't need to fix the actual bug.
But, year after year goes by and nothing happens. There've only ever been two dev comments on the issue, while the forum threads continue to grow with new reports.
This issue is extremely frustrating due to its nature and due to the fact it blocks off the game's biggest selling point--the story--along with every feature and progress track that is gated behind story advancement. It's literally game-breaking. And the worst part is that I wouldn't care if I didn't like the game. I want to proceed through the story and all that because I do like it (even though I have gripes with certain design decisions, like ANet's love of knockdowns and knockbacks).
I've tried skipping ahead to HoT and PoF, but it's completely demotivating to know that I'll probably just run into the same bug again in another crazy-long instance.
Can't say I've seen a thread about this one but I don't visit their own forums often either. I had seen threads of people crashing in a story instance but those usually follow the freshest release and could always see them fixing said issues.
Doing it in a group still doesn't count it? I don't typically do story in group so I ain't sure if in case of a disconnect it puts you back inside the instance with the rest of the group or just out in the world.
The checkpoints is something I honestly don't get why they don't want to implement. I have crashed in story instances before and most of the time I end up not even bothering to log back in for the day. It's really boring sitting through the same dialogues you heard just a few minutes earlier... especially since we can't skip them.
they also fear that their wiener's size is just an illusion. maybe their gf told them it's big, and that gave them confidence. so now they have to maintain that confidence because otherwise their world view is shattered and their self esteem iredeemingly destroyed.
so in order to have a big wiener you logically have to assume that other wieners are small. that means whenever someone else is happy with his wiener he poses a threat.
noone else can be confident, because that would automatically mean their wiener is big too, and maybe your own wiener isn't.
so they fight.
in general it's called stupidity. but that word has lost its meaning.
Later levels, achievements, crafting etc: are so wrapped up in pure BS the game becomes a f****** nightmare that you can't escape from unless you quit the game which we are now considering.
I actually see the point in the chore part. I think they intended the most part of gw2 as a very casual game where you can relax (exept raids, high tier fractals and pvp). If you want to play it all day it can burn you out quickly, but it should be mentioned that you can set yourself goals and work at them at your own pace. If you dont want to do the dailys then just dont do them. You dont have any real pressure to do unfun stuff. why should you play parts of the game that make you mad.
Also yes the crafting is pretty complicated but google exists so yeah.
If you want to quit feel free to do so because the gw2 community doesnt like salty ppl xD
