Why so much hate in the discussions?
I'm noticing a lot of negative discussions popping up about gw2 and my question is kind of simple, who hurt you?

For real though, where is this negativity coming from? Gw2 is a great game that I've been playing since beta. I've never once run into a server issue like some claim, and I'm not noticing any drop in the games quality over the years either. I'm honestly thinking some smear campaign is going around or some crap because I'm not seeing what other people are seeing.

From what I'm gathering, some people are mad that the game is considered free to play when it has paid expansions, however this is invalid since the game IS free to play, and simply has content you can CHOOSE to pay for.

Some people are mad that there are bots in this game, but there are bots in literally every single mmorpg that has ever existed, including wow and ffxiv, so this criticism is unfounded.

Some people are mad that the games "quality is going down" - whatever the ♥♥♥♥ this means. I don't see it AT ALL, but sure, pop off sis. The only people who I can think of that would make this argument are people mad at the games class balancing, to which I say "boo-the-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-who". Cry some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ more, please, i beg you. You don't need to be the top healer or the top dps to enjoy the game.

Keep your damned egos in check.

You can also go Dry Top and see if the Skitt Queen has been killed, there's a rich quartz node in her lair once every day with other 3 additional normal ones scattered around the map.

I know about that too but when time is an issue, Dry Top's rich node isn't the best given it is locked behind the meta. Depending on your timing you may find it open but chances are you won't. The Crystal Oasis one is accessible 24/7 though.
Ghigi 8/nov./2020 às 10:33
To me the Dry Top is always a must, you go there even at a random time for the 3 nodes, if you find the queen, even better. I have an alt parked there.
Edit: just wanted to add that for a f2p player the Oasis is a no-go, sadly.

This game is so bad not even kidding Forum dead af like a year or so now Dev wont even listen to their player by fixxing bug issues they just ignored ur message and stuff no Acknowledgement or anything about when they gonna fix the bugs in the game imagine playing a game that has the same bug issues that made u couldn;t progress a year or so how u like that ?

I did mention in this thread that the game has plenty of bugs and that is still true. Bugs that don't allow you to progress with something are usually fixed fast though, within a week of their introduction. So which is that one that is around for a year now? Because I don't think I've heard of it or seen it.
some of the bug has been on the game for a year now vision is prob 4 months old now nothing is done untill now no matter how many tickets were sended / reported bug issues none of the Anet Dev even respond into it just hiding in the cave releasing it with full of bug is Anet grave mistakes if people knew these bug arent fixed for months or so they cant progress people will eventually leave the game itself if only Anet has Brain dont rush for the release steam and fix SOME of the bug im not expecting all but those bug were there for ages is kinda annoying as hell

And there are bugs that have been in the game for 5-6 years and yes they don't particularly bother fixing them but you mentioned an ongoing issue for a year that blocks your progress.

Yet you still haven't mentioned which that is. Nobody likes bugs, many people turn a blind eye to them though. A bug blocking progress with anything, no matter how small or big it may be, is something that's universally hated. So when you say that such a bug exists, while I know they fix those within the first few days, I expect an answer as to where that bug is and what it affects.

Oh boy... where does one begin with that? First of all, as I mentioned in a previous post of mine in a different thread, the server issues are very much real. For Europe at least. You screaming "but I have nothing so all of you are lying!!" is about as effective as saying "I have encountered no bugs in X game so the game is 100% bug free".

The game's quality has indeed gone down. Starting in LS4 with the absolutely horrendous episodes 5 and 6 only to show some small signs of improvement in the beginning of LS5 and go downhill from there again. Lazy uninspired maps that nobody bothers with unless they can make lots of gold from them or they're after some collection, generic events, boring boss fights that the highest of requirements is "get enough people, roll face across keyboard", a huge spike in the amount of grind needed for the simplest of things, bugs in classes being ignored completely like the revenant still having the utility skills moving around or the knockback in ele's dagger still having a delay, the story quality going down with each new release, horrible QA since every new release, no matter how small it is, is accompanied by a lot of bugs, events that can get stuck for many many years now are still not fixed. Bugs in story instances, bugs in dungeons, bugs, bugs, bugs. And on top of that you have their favourite excuse of "we can't do X because spaghetti code" but they always seem to manage to work the code out when they want to release the next 10€ + cosmetic in the store. And let's not forget their false advertising of the "templates" or as they would be called by anyone else, loadouts.

Balancing is something I don't care much about as I don't do meta builds but they do seem that they don't quite understand their own game every time a balance patch is released. I remember no balance patches that didn't make a class or elite spec really powerful, only to spend the next couple months toning it down again.

Tons of things like this in every aspect of this game. Boils down to a lack of pride/skill in the finished product, stagnant imaginations, and a mindset of looking at the customer base as a flock of sheep at best. The idea of making things "fun" isn't even on the radar.

@Arenanet.
Do not offer this product to regions outside of NA and EU. If a customer's ping to both Frankfurt (EU) or Ashburn (NA) is 100-150+, then GW2 is a BAD purchase, and negligent sale on ArenaNet's part.
I live in Western Australia and play on 215ms to Frankfurt. I have muddled through enough content to earn legendary raid armor. I've played enough fractals to have a personal fractal level of 100. I am on the cusp of Platinum in sPVP. Those who have spectated elite NA teams vs elite EU teams during Teapot's Global MOTA tournament will understand what I am talking about. Ping is a serious issue in high-end content. It is an insurmountable disadvantage in PVP.
@Arenanet do not offer the product to us without the necessary infrastructure for >150 ping.

I don't know what bug the other poster was referring to but I can tell you about one that's stopped my own progress.

I'm among a number of people who experience a consistent disconnect toward the end of the longest story instances. We spend up to two hours playing through a story instance only to be disconnected minutes away from the end. There's no certain solution on the player's end. ANet has basically stated they won't do anything about it until they have enough information to fix the underlying bug. We've been giving them all kinds of information about it for years, but I understand that networking bugs are especially difficult to diagnose and fix. However, the crux of the issue is that they could solve this problem forever and make story instances way more reliable overall if only they added some kind of checkpointing to save progress within an instance. They don't need to fix the actual bug.

But, year after year goes by and nothing happens. There've only ever been two dev comments on the issue, while the forum threads continue to grow with new reports.

This issue is extremely frustrating due to its nature and due to the fact it blocks off the game's biggest selling point--the story--along with every feature and progress track that is gated behind story advancement. It's literally game-breaking. And the worst part is that I wouldn't care if I didn't like the game. I want to proceed through the story and all that because I do like it (even though I have gripes with certain design decisions, like ANet's love of knockdowns and knockbacks).

I've tried skipping ahead to HoT and PoF, but it's completely demotivating to know that I'll probably just run into the same bug again in another crazy-long instance.

Can't say I've seen a thread about this one but I don't visit their own forums often either. I had seen threads of people crashing in a story instance but those usually follow the freshest release and could always see them fixing said issues.

Doing it in a group still doesn't count it? I don't typically do story in group so I ain't sure if in case of a disconnect it puts you back inside the instance with the rest of the group or just out in the world.

The checkpoints is something I honestly don't get why they don't want to implement. I have crashed in story instances before and most of the time I end up not even bothering to log back in for the day. It's really boring sitting through the same dialogues you heard just a few minutes earlier... especially since we can't skip them.

a lot of hate in the discussions because people like to compare mmos like their wieners.
they also fear that their wiener's size is just an illusion. maybe their gf told them it's big, and that gave them confidence. so now they have to maintain that confidence because otherwise their world view is shattered and their self esteem iredeemingly destroyed.

so in order to have a big wiener you logically have to assume that other wieners are small. that means whenever someone else is happy with his wiener he poses a threat.
noone else can be confident, because that would automatically mean their wiener is big too, and maybe your own wiener isn't.

so they fight.

in general it's called stupidity. but that word has lost its meaning.

Lately me and the two friends I play with have been getting a little p***** off with the game. The deeper you get into GW2 the more and more frustrating it becomes. It's like everything has become a chore and the fun has gone bye, bye.
Later levels, achievements, crafting etc: are so wrapped up in pure BS the game becomes a f****** nightmare that you can't escape from unless you quit the game which we are now considering.

I actually see the point in the chore part. I think they intended the most part of gw2 as a very casual game where you can relax (exept raids, high tier fractals and pvp). If you want to play it all day it can burn you out quickly, but it should be mentioned that you can set yourself goals and work at them at your own pace. If you dont want to do the dailys then just dont do them. You dont have any real pressure to do unfun stuff. why should you play parts of the game that make you mad.
Also yes the crafting is pretty complicated but google exists so yeah.
If you want to quit feel free to do so because the gw2 community doesnt like salty ppl xD

You want hate? Here's some hate for you. 'The game isn't perfect. Needs work'. Had enough or do you want some more hate?
