I don't mind the endings (spoilers)
On the one hand, the fact that Planet Crafter is intended as a sandbox-type game and has an ending at all is unusual, its that in this case the devs included some lore that people got engrossed in and they decided to give that lore an endpoint. Yes, we like the lore, but we're not playing the game just for that (I'd assume, anyway).

But on the other hand...what more could the endings have been? There are certainly unanswered questions, but the only major pressing one is what happened to Ilkhas, and one of the endings hints at that. Otherwise the primary two endings are exactly what you'd expect - either you finish your job and get a pat on the back, or you escape as a fugitive. Both are logically what would happen to you if you pursued those plotlines to their conclusion and are "and the adventure continues" types.

The third ending with the Wardens, I think the only thing disappointing about it is the presentation, identical to the other endings but with a portal in place of a ship. But for actual story, it's fine. I think the most fascinating thing about the Wardens is the mystery element about them, and the ending being ambiguous keeps to that. We don't know what they look like, if there are any of them still out there, and if there are what happened to them.

If the ending was us stepping out of the portal and seeing a Warden city and the physical forms of the Wardens was suddenly revealed, it would only be some fleeting satisfaction at having our curiosity appeased, and their mystery would be forever lost. The promise of further adventures into the unknown, the promise that our PC is going to go looking for answers, but we the player do not get them, is much more satisfying to me.

Each to their own, of course. But you got some things wrong here. First off, we don't get a pat on the back from Sentinel if we finish our job. We get thrown back in jail indefinitely until they "review" the apparent "variations of the rules" we broke by receiving assistance from Riley. Also, Riley tells us they are evil and don't care at all about their deal with us. A pat on the back would have been super...but no.

Also, we know what the Wardens look like. They look like us. That was part of the early lore that you read in various Warden sites. When humans came to their world, they trusted us at first because we looked so similar. Then apparently, we rather betrayed them somehow, and they had to flee to escape the possibly violent? nature of our kind. The Warden ending basically says they died or met some other horrible fate. These people could not seem to escape their inevitable doom. So not really a mystery so much as hopelessness.

I wouldn't mind mystery. Following the Wardens was kind of a bust anyway as they don't like humans. I would not have expected them to welcome me even if I had found them. I just think it would feed into their obvious paranoia about never being able to get away from our kind.

Maybe a bit more than just 2 lines of text? After all the effort you have to put in the game and so many hours, i'd expect a bit more - a cut scene, more info about wardens. It would have been better not to give the ending at all the way it's been done. Better to leave it as complete mystery than make us work so much for 2 lines of text.

I would have loved an ending that lets us escape all three endings and build, maybe with a lot of resources, a portal or a ship that takes us to a new life somewhere. Or, if we got our hands already on rockets and explosive devices, to blow up the Sentinel ships from the sky with a brilliant display of fireworks. As a bonus, more wrecks to explore. If I can come up with these, someone with more imagination could certainly do better.
