Building snapping
I looked through the forum and didn't see anything, so I will ask. Is there a way to bypass the locking/snapping of pieces when building? Thanks!

As far as I know you can build separate buildings, but if they are close to each other, they will lock together. I don't think it can be bypassed in any way.

brnphoenix is correct, if they are close enough together, they will automatically snap together.

Well, except for the Launch Platform. That doesn't want to snap to anything.

Unless you build the platform first, then connect stuff from there. It's one of the things in the game I truly wish they would have fixed.

Nope it's updated already. akarnokd posted the updates the day before 1.0 launched.

Where can I find that mod? The auto-snapping feature drives me nuts. I don't mind it with building parts, but I so wish I could turn off the auto-snapping for storage units.

Storage units?

I've never had anything that's not a building or a foundation auto-snap. Inf act, I WISH things built inside of buildings would auto-snap because it sucks to always be 1 pixel off when trying to place lockers n such.

Here's a fun experiment: Try building a desk, and build it at the exact center along one wall of a living space compartment.

You CAN'T and it's frustrating AF.

You're always 1 small grid square off in either direction. It seems that for some asinine reason, they decided to make the living compartments an even number of grid squares, and the desks an odd number of squares wide or vice-versa. But it is literally impossible to put one down in the exact center.

Also, WHY did they make the lockers juuuuust too big to fit 3 in a living space compartment along a wall? I hate that you get 2 lockers in, and you fall half a locker short of putting 3 in there, so if you line the lockers up along the wall, you're always going to have this annoying gap of unused space unless you pull the locker further away from the wall to account for the ribs where the compartments connect, which will make the lockers not line up with each other unless you move them ALL in, then you get this ugly gap behind the other 2 lockers.

I hear ya. It's odd that your storage units do not auto-snap. Mine do. But, believe me when I tell you, be happy that yours don't. They will _not_ line up the same way in each compartment. So, you can line them up perfectly center in one compartment, then in the next they will be just off center. By the time you get to the end of a row of 10 compartments they are so off center it looks like my character was drunk when he installed them. And the worst thing about is that they auto-snap that way. They do _not_ auto-snap in the same place in every compartment and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. It is incredibly annoying.

I spent an hour wrestling with a foundation piece before I realized the mouse wheel changes the snapping location elevation when dealing with many snap points in a small area.
Building is a lot more fun now lol.
