Portal Wrecks
So I'm confused. I was exploring procedural wrecks before all of the recent updates. But now it seems there is nothing higher than a Lv 3 difficulty setting in the Portal selection screen. So they didn't really make things simpler, they just took away the higher difficulty settings?

The last six times I've gone through a Rarity 5, Difficulty 3 portal, I've been sent to the same biome... a dry seabed with coral and lots of obsidian rocks sticking out of the ground. Most of the time there is only one wreck but sometimes there are two.

I thought these areas were supposed to be more diverse?
I'm always going to go for the highest Rarity and difficulty because I'm trying to find all of the new cosmetic decoration blueprints, but this is very monotonous and really reminds me I have other things to do than play this game.

Is it this way for anyone else?
It's the same for me whether I play on Prime or the Humble DLC.

It changed in the decoration update. 3 is now the highest.
...And they all look the same?

Yes, a lot of folks where commenting about how difficult the wrecks were. You know what they say, Be careful what you wish for , you might just get it.

I like going Rarity 5. It can get "mazey" so I use a lot of flare to mark it (Yellow = exit, Green = to vault) which worked out for me ;)

note: I have gotten different biome for 5. A lot of LAVA (6 out of 10) but I do get mountain and green/forest type.

Now that said, how many of you get two bases? I notice that most "forest" type (trees and water) I got 2 bases vs 1 in LAVA stage (I have not gotten 2 in LAVA stage yet)
I was wondering, what's with the difficulty because I kept reading of difficulty 5 everywhere. So that's not a thing anymore.
Another question I have, though, is, what's with the access cards? On the internet, I read that you're supposed to find additional access cards from time to time, whether I looked it up in the game wiki or in several discussions, but I never found a different amount of access cards than required to open the respective doors.
That being said, there's this hidden door in the north of the map, which you need five access cards for to open it. Where am I supposed to find them without keeping the vaults in the wrecks closed in order to spare the access cards?

In the old system lvl 1 and 2 dungeons were easy. Don't mind that they exist, but they were too easy for me. Lvl 3 was pretty much the sweet point. It had a good mix of challenge and time investment, and had good rewards. Difficulty 4 was borderline. It was much more difficult, maybe too difficult for some, and took a bit too long imo to deal with. It's preference, either you liked it or you didn't. Difficulty 5 went off the deep end. You can get lost for hours and starve down there. I did a lvl 5 once. Never doing that again.

Yeah, I remember doing Lv5 the first time without really taking my time and tracing my steps... big mistake.

It used to be that the game was very generous and you would often receive double the necessary access cards for a single wreck. I am assuming it was so that players wouldn't have to explore wrecks very thoroughly. The five-card door has been around since that time.

In order to open that door now you'd have to not use them in the randomly generated portal wrecks.

You can technically get behind that door without the five cards by scaling the mountain and dropping in, but it doesn't seem like this was originally intended to be possible, so I cannot recommend it.

Yeah, I ended up in there once by falling down from the top, but I starved because there was no exit. I managed to "climb" back up using the jetpack, but it took too much time. At least I managed to collect my stuff again because I died pretty high up, but none of this was supposed to happen in the first place.

I think, it's no good gameplay, if you have to actively ignore the most valuable loot in a wreck in order to be able to open that door. I feel like they really messed the whole thing up.

I don't really have a problem with orientation, I'm pretty good with that actually. I would have very much liked to try a level 5 wreck at least once. Too bad it's gone.
