Question about falling meteors.
When they drop and hit me over the head; I notice that my day turns awfully terrible.

My question is this. As I am new to game.
When the rocks come thundering down. Can they destroy my assets?
Like my Living areas and my other energy buildings outside?

If comets do destroy assets.
If I were inside of a Living space; and a meteor hit it. Would I die inside?

No they wont damage your habitat, at least not yet anyway. There is actually a achievement for getting hit by a meteor.

They will not damage anything except YOU :D But if you eat something soon, you can survive it. You are safe in a living space. They often drop stuff that can be useful, so dodging meteors while gathering material might prove useful (your mileage may vary) :D

I got that achievement. It is the only time that I actually died, so far. Lol.
I should have stayed indoors!

It would be cool if habitats were to take damage. Not be fully destroyed; unless hit by repeatability rocks from space. I would like that level of realism. Even if it means that I might lose some assets and resources stored within.

REPAIR TOOLS a'Cometh!

Yes. As soon as the meteor stops, go out and look among the brown rocks they leave. Often there are minerals on the meteors. But they don't last very long.

though when its raining scores of little meteors, ya sadly have to get out there and grab the loot as it falls, super alloy despawns super quick compared to any of the others

I think the developers said that damage *may* be added in the future. Check the pinned "Roadmap" topic at the top of the discussions to seed if that's correct. One note about meteor storms & habitats - sometimes they can block your doorway and trap you inside. If you don't have a second door (or a ladder to the roof), just save your game, exit, reload and they will de-spawn.

I think my first game I died by meteor hit 3-4 times. Yeah... I'm a slow learner :D

So really the only way to grab them fast enough. Is to risk your life running out there during the fallings!

No. As long as you're close, you should have time to grab any resources. Just stay indoors while the rocks are still falling, and take that time to top up your food and water, so you don't have to stop while collecting. Also have plenty of empty slots in your backpack to keep things in. Also, an item which has been picked up and dropped won't disappear. So if you run out of empty spaces you can quickly drop some of the stuff you just picked up and it should be waiting there for you when you return.

Good tips ok.

There's no rush. Only one type of resources despawn very quickly, and they will come much later.

Really the only meteor types where you have to put yourself at risk to reap their benefits are the Super Alloy ones (the Super Alloy pieces disappear quickly, sometimes seemingly before the end of the meteor shower quickly). All the other ones, the resources will stick around for a good 5 minutes to several hours, as long as you don't exit the map (temporary minerals from meteorites aren't written to save and disappear when you leave the map).

Many people play for different reasons. Some to experience a thrill and others just want something to relax with. I've seen several games with multiple options for gameplay.
In this instance, one example might be --- Meteors cause Base damage ( YES / NO )
This could help satisfy those who want more realism as well as those who don't want to lose the time they spent building a megabase.

Indeed.
