That... Doesn't do anything. Priority is just as it sounds. Drones grab Supply from the highest priority Supplier and takes it to the highest place of Demand.
Say you have a mine digging up Super Alloy nuggets. This is set to Supply.
Then you have two places that Demand Super Alloy.
Place A is a storage that the player uses for construction material, set to High.
Place B is a base with an auto-crafter making Super Alloy Rods set to Highest.
Drones will supply Super Alloy to Place B first before supplying Place A.
If you have another Super Alloy mine set to Low, then drones will prioritise taking Super Alloy from the first mine before this one.
I tried to make an automatic fusion to trade rocket setup on Prime and a Fabric to trade rocket on Humble and both seem slow until I make way too many drones to do the job and that works to get the rocket off as quickly as possible to make money automatically while I play...
Having more drones worked well. If you have enough drones, priority doesn't seem to matter and I am not sure when priority matters.
There are 3 main failure conditions for your drone network
- Not enough drones. Add more.
- Not enough production. Build more.
- Not enough throughput. Every inventory slot will allow 1 drone in the air. If the demand is too high, a locker will not be enough. Build more storage, a T2 locker is almost always enough.
That is incorrect. If SA is set to high and Iron is set to normal, then SA will take priority over Iron when there is a choice.
There are plenty of reasons why the drones would choose Iron over SA. For example, SA Rods require Alu too. This means that an AutoCrafter that only has access to SA and no Alu will eventually run out of SA Rods that it can craft and so the drones will have to collect Alu. Then there is the whole supply side of things. I have 8 Ore Extractors T3 in the SA area with 6 fuses, meaning that the Extractors will each produce a SA every 30 seconds. But, even with this, the Extractors will run out of SA.
I have a couple of high (not highest) priority supplies, a couple of lowest priority demands (shredders) and everything else is set to normal, and my entire drone network works properly.
There is, try clicking on the triple-arrow icon labelled 'Supply All' in the logistics menu.
