quartz in planet humble?
I found a few cosmic quartz lying around. But I read there are like 25

And since these are apparently the only way to get the other quartzes (i can craft pulsar), how the hell do I find more?

There is no interactive map online. No real resources for this DLC.

There are 20 pulsar (pink) quartz spread across the map in 3 cave locations.

There are also 41 cosmic quartz that will each drop 1 each of the 5 basic quartz types when put through a T3 Ore Crusher.

After a certain point in the terraformation process you might occasionally have a quartz meteor appear, each one of those meteors will drop anywhere up to 10 pulsar quartz on the ground.

If you're lucky you may also find some quartz of different types as rare loot in the various ships and wrecks on Humble.

Beyond that, the only other place you'll get quartz from is by making a Portal gate, and exploring remote portal locations and any wrecks thereon.

As for the lack of a map - https://map.fistshake.net/PlanetCrafter/

* switch between the Prime map and Humble map by clicking on the Planet name in the bottom right of the map.

* the coordinates in the bottom left of the map are for north-south, and east-west, directions only.

* in most cases vertical placement of an item can be best-guessed by enabling the 'Interior' mode by pressing the circular icon at the top left of the map, this will display the various cave areas in differently coloured sections, then simply select the item you're looking for from the pull-out list on the right side of the screen, finally look at how the item icons overlap (or don't overlap) the areas of cave; if the icons and cave zones overlap there's a good chance you'll have to search underground for your item.

* You can also adjust the maps appearance between 0Ti and 5TTi by using the slider at the top of the map.

I visited this map (since i used it for original planet crafter) right when i started this.

my god the abject stupidity of hiding the planet switcher in such a tiny impossible to notice spot...

whoever made this is brain dead beyond brain dead

thanks for pointing it out.

I suspect the map is designed with desktop computers with at least a 1080p screen in mind, rather than laptops and mobile devices with smaller screens.

But to be fair, making that website, and filling it with the functionality it has, and then keeping it all updated for both planets, is apparently quite a lot of work, at least judging by the comments of the person who created and maintains it.

I also had to lookup where the pulsar crystals were in Humble. I got one in a crate, but needed more to build the fusion cell required by the drone station. Once I got that operational, its far easier to just wait until the craft recipe unlocks.

I find enough to open a smaller portal (lower rarity and such) and gather more crystals that way :)

pulsar quartz wasn't my issue. it was the other ones, the solar/etc. ones.

pulsar you can craft
You can find a blueprint for solar crystals also.

Yeah, I had to wait a bit til I had enough pulse crystals to start building fusion cells. Waited long enough to get the portal generator running and used my last 3 to open the first portal.

Build the drones shortly after that first area.

I’m sure I saw somewhere if you put the crystals in the recycler machine instead of the ore crusher you actually get more items back? And it’s instant you don’t have to wait is that true anyone tried it?

The cosmic quartz crystals can be broken down in either a crusher or the recycler, with slightly varying results depending on what you use and your level of terraformation and such.

I personally find I tend to get more reliable results with the recycler, but a level 3 crusher will usually produce fairly similar results. You can only break down the cosmic quartz, the others are already in their final form (except for the solar and pulsar, those you can break down if you wish, not sure why you'd want to tho ... )

Jesus christ that's annoying to have to worry about.

Not sure why it would worry you? It just is what it is... Think of it as a bonus rather than a worry, maybe? You can find literally HEAPS of all the quartz colours once you get the portal up and running, so it shouldn't be much of a problem at that point - and if you have cosmic quartz then you should be high enough to build the portal, so, no problemo...

Because I like playing games efficiently. And when mechanics align to make efficient/optimal play counterintuitive and adhoc in some way where you have to remember a dumb thing like using the recycler rather than the ore crusher, then it's annoying and stressful.

Without a doubt, it is more odd that you didn't understand why that would be annoying. That is the issue here and we should talk about it.

What is it about you that would make something like that beyond your ability to grasp/intuit without someone explaining it for you?

I think you answered your own question - obviously because our brains work differently. That happens sometimes, quite frequently in fact; just ask any psychologist.

One thing I have learned over the years - if something seems 'obvious' to you, it's often because you have a talent in that direction. That does NOT mean that everybody else automatically draws the same conclusion though, and this is what marks a talent - something that's easy for you that isn't for others.

Personally, I still don't see what's the big huhu though - use what works for you, if it's the one way, fine, if it's the other, do that one. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you should - or shouldn't. Use the method you prefer, and accept that other ways exist, however they seem to you.

You're missing my point. Obviously our brains work differently. I didn't answer my own question. I just implied something that you thought was the answer to the question.

My question is how could your brain work so differently from a normal healthy intelligent human brain that understanding that a mechanic in a game being weird and counterintuitive in a way that will make the efficiency minded player feel like they are playing suboptimally unless they jump through a dumb hoop would be bothersome to said player.

I'm not asking why it would be bothersome to some and not others. I'm asking why that fact wasn't obvious to you in the first place.

Are you saying the answer is some kind of psycho-babble about mental retardation? i.e. a shrink would tell me you have some major deficit?

This thread seems to be going off the rails a little bit... at this point while you're both clearly going around in circles you both should probably just agree to disagree and move on.
