It seems like the devs thinking around the Trade Rocket went something like this:
* On Prime, having the Trade Rocket list be split into 2 sections kinda makes sense, with one section for 'rare' Prime items, and the other section for 'rare' and/or purely decorative Humble items.
* Whereas the Trade Rocket on Humble only has the Prime list of items because we're already on Humble anyway, with access to the various Humble items being mostly freely available by exploring the world.
Now to be fair to the devs this does make sense because most/all of Humbles flower seeds are so common in the wild that there's absolutely no point putting them in the Trade Rocket on Humble; similarly there's enough copies of the Starform and Glitx spacesuits in chests/lockers that it's kinda pointless putting them in the Trade Rocket on Humble too, which really only leaves the Malissea tree seed, and any examples of that seed that can be found around the map probably should be enough to put at least some tree spreaders into action.
Also, presumably once the newly announced second DLC comes along, the Trade Rocket on Humble should then gain an 'Interplanetary Trade' section featuring items from the new DLC world, while on Prime the Interplanetary trade list should expand to include items from both DLC's.
Looking at the recipe list in the DNA Manipulator in Creative Mode on Humble, it seems only 'Prime' tree recipes are listed currently. Perhaps (hopefully) some Humble tree recipes will eventually be added to that recipe list in a future update.
But I love them in the tree pots and bonsai pots, so I still wish I could buy them. :)
The golden tree is also gorgeous as a bonsai and in the tree pot, and they go together quite nicely with the malissea - but the blue one (can't remember the names at the moment) is rather a wash-out, as all the smaller branches disappear from the mini version and it just looks odd, not like a tree at all.
But my bonsai grouping of the golden tree, the malissea tree, and the mini iTerra tree looks really pretty, and I have one each in tree pots about the home base as well, but it all still seems just a little too sparse, I'd love to be able to get more, and I wouldn't at all mind spending my hard-farmed terra tokens for them, lol! :-)
Also it would be nice to have trees we could make from the native humble flowers, and extract colours and traits from them... and I was surprised to find that when I put most of the humble flowers into a display case, the case shows either an empty placement, just looks totally vacant, or it will show an empty pot with nothing showing inside.
Go figure... I think this may be a sign that there may have been a bit too much rushing to get the game out, I hope the devs will try to take some pressure off of themselves and remember not to rush things, it's too easy to head towards burnout that way.
A big problem with a lot of creative folks, I've learned, is that there is always something 'more' that can be added to whatever the project is. I've seen this in game-world making, writing, art, building, sculpting, I think it probably applies to all artists and artwork - the real trick, I've learned, is knowing when to stop, leave it as is, and make it the best it can be As Is...
In my Humble game, I've made an extensive forest around the lake area behind the sulfur and lava biomes. It's really pretty there (nice place for a base except that in the early game it might be hard to get certain resources easily). The forest combines Lillias, Roseas, and Soleus trees, which look gorgeous together. There are also some Malisseas a bit up the hill. I have the same fondness for the Soleus that you seem to have for Iterras. :)
I agree that the Prunea tree (the blue one) could have been rendered better. Blue is a favored color but I like these trees the least except for the truly hideous Shreox that I never use despite it's oxy bonus. They seem a bit too pale and ethereal and you're right that they don't make an impression in a bonsai pot.
I also think we should be able to make trees from Humble flowers. I was expecting the Humblea to have a secret recipe the way the Golden Seed had on Prime. I did try to make trees with each of them with no luck. Either it isn't a thing or I'm using the wrong items. But it would kind of make sense if the Humblea produced either a Malissea or some other special tree. Maybe they'll add that in a future update.
What kind of display case are you referring to that the Humble flowers don't work in? The standard clear display case? I never liked using seeds in those cause the yellowish containers look bleah. But I have used the Humble flowers in the various flower pots. My favorite is the Seleus. :)
I quite like the new big planters as well, I've put a row of them all around my base, interspersed with tree pots in the middle of each row and a fountain in the middle of everything, with oodles of butterflies all around the outside. I do like the Soleus tree as well, a forest is just not complete without them, but since I can make as many as I want, it's no problem scratching my itch for lots of them - unlike the iTerra or the Malissea... but maybe in the future! :-)
Ditto with the Rosea, since I can buy them, it's possible to get as many as I want, but the iTerra is limited, maybe that's part of it's attraction for me? I dunno, I just like it, even if it does have a habit of swatting me out of the air if I try to fly past it a little too close and a little too high, lol
The lake where you have your forest is a great place to decorate, I quite like it myself, and there's a deceptive lot of resources quite local to the area, too, I've spend quite a lot of time over there, and there is heaps of stuff in the chests in the maze that eventually turns into the lake. Awesome spot, one of my faves. :-)
I agree about the Shreox, too, that thing is just plain nasty-looking! On Prime sometimes I will put some in out-of-the-way places, strictly for the oxy bonus, but, I don't like them. Not sure why, since I love 'shrooms, it's kind of weird, actually - but maybe there's something atavistic about them, they just give me the creepies.
I too tried every combination of elements I could think of to coax a tree seed out of the Humble flowers, with zero success. Oh well! I do particularly like the Seleus, it's gorgeous - and I love the way the Humblea glows at night.
Oh, and, before I forget, the display case I used was the oldest one in the game, I think? It's white and has six slots over a base... I generally put a couple side-by-side behind my bed, they look a little like a headboard that way, and thought that flowers would look pretty in it, similar to the tree seeds, which look pretty cool.
But, nope, the Prime flowers just look weird and flat, and the Humble flowers mostly just show up as not there at all, or as an empty container, it's rather odd. Again though, definitely not a big deal by any means, just one of those funny little things that sometimes you will find in this game, I guess. Makes each new update even more welcome! :-D
