Selena Hardcore Tips
So I've decided to ignore all warnings and start a hardcore game on Selena. Since I managed to get things pretty stable here, I thought I'd share some tips with other players who, like me, have self-destructive tendencies.

My state right now: I'm at 9.2 GTI. I have a reliable supply of food and water. The moon is starting to turn green and has flowing water.

New starter tips:

* You can ignore selenium. I haven't found a use for it so far, so don't waste storage space on it. It'll be there when you inevitably need it.
* Your top top top priority is to find food. Especially in Hardcore, you're going to run out of it quick and you must get some food growers before you do. Explore everywhere for chests - there are some chests in small caves around the emptiness. Unless you're lucky enough to find mushroom or squash seeds (I wasn't) you're going to need 5 eggplant growers, which means 5 aluminium. And unfortunately...
* Aluminium (I'll be dead in the cold ground before I call it Aluminum) is the most precious and rare material to start with, and you can mostly only find it in chests.
* You can also find some Aluminium behind the second dome site (with the bridge and big truck parked at the front). Go past the door and head left, follow the path and look to your right (and up) until you spot some glowing Osmium. Climb up and you'll find some Osmium and Aluminium on the ground. Also look for a hidden room and a little easter egg nearby.
* At first you'll need to reuse your resources. Desconstruct those heaters to build T2 ones and so on.
* The recycling machine is your god. Once you unlock that, you can (and must) recycle some of the components you found in chests to get more aluminium and super alloy. Until you do though, just use what you have and don't fret - more is coming! You can recycle super alloy rods to get both.
* Use rockets to boost your heat and pressure production. I was able to make 10 of each. Gather the Iridium and Uranium of course, you're going to need it and that's your only source.
* Oxygen production is going to suffer. A lot. Don't worry about it! You'll get there eventually. Honestly, just put it out of your mind.
* Your next precious resource is going to be sulfur. You will barely find *any* and you'll want to keep any fertiliser you have for flower spreaders and then algae. Eventually, around 500 MTI, you're going to get hit with an Osmium meteor that'll get you over that hump.
* Your goal is to get to 13.33 Pa pressure to unlock the T3 ore miner. Then you'll have a steady supply - but until then, use it wisely. I'm still waiting on mine, but I reckon it's only another few hours till I get it.
* You'll want to invest in a T2 biodome for the tree bark. I've been able to send only a few seed and plant rockets so far, but they're worth it.

There will be times when you ask yourself what in the world you're doing and how are you going to progress. Keep going - the game will provide for you eventually! My long term plan is to hit 250 GTi to get the teleporter, maybe deconstruct some fusion cells I found to build it, and pray I find the materials I need in crash sites. But I'm not there yet :)

Good luck and have fun on Selena!

Not sure when it's gonna be on main but they just updated dev branch.
with new update Selenea should have sulfur, obsidian and alluminion for extractors to get.

anyway, you did the impossible, congrats xD
Use the Interplanetary Exchange Shuttle.

That would be great once I unlock it! But for starting on Selena that's not an option :)

I had no idea. In all honesty, I felt like the challenge was worth it - so maybe they should keep it as a game mode :)
So can you mine Aluminium on Selenea? I have T3 extractors and can get sulfur but not Aluminium

I find it odd you failed to mention that the valley right behind the landing pod is a fairly large Sulfur/Aluminum field. It all turns into a river later. But props you managed to not use it.

Weird assumption that he didnt use it. He didnt include it in the list because it is obvious to everyone since it is at the landing pod. Besides that initial field of Aluminium, the OP is correct and there is a very limit amount also in the Osmium field.

Super asteroids are the best renewable source for aluminium but they also de-spawn sooo quickly after they land :(

There's 2 bullet points talking about Aluminum for starters, the second one going into quite a bit of detail. There's also a mention that Sulfur is extremely rare even though there's a field full of it. The way it reads there should definitely be a mention of the Sulfur/Aluminum field. Also, it is not obvious to everyone as is evidenced by people asking on this forum where to find it.

But hey, I already completed my Selenea start so it won't impact me either way.

Going Super Asteroid hunting is like an extremely hectic Easter Egg hunt, running around picking up eggs while asteroids are dropping all around you.

Okay

Another good source of Aluminium and Neolite is deconstructing the circuit boards.
