Do you have the T2 Gas extractors? You get to pick the gas you want.
Two gas extractors sending O2, Methane and Nitrogen to their respective storage boxes with drones. Nitrogen storage is full but O2 and Methane are no longer being produced. I empty the extractors of four N2 each time and they refill with just N2 and none of the other two.
Three solutions.
1. wait for the T2 gas extractor.
2. Maybe try deconstructing and moving them. (don't know if this will work)
3. (Humble only) A convoluted chain using serena larva (plentiful on the beach on Humble) recycle them to get rare larva, T2 mutagen and fertilizer, then recycle the T2 to get mutagen, sulfur and methane.
You can automate the recycling by using an ore crusher instead of a recycle machine.
Sounds like a variation of the 'no larvae spawning' bug, especially if a game restart got things working as expected again.
I do not think that word means what you think it means. :D
For something to be truly random implies that anything, no matter how unlikely or bizarrely otherworldly it appears to be or not, could happen with each new step in a process; this does of course include the possibility of a scenario where one or more gas extractor(s) in a game each suddenly produce only 1 of 3 possible gases in a comparatively long uninterrupted series.
Of course, as mentioned above, in this case it seems like it's just a simple bug where the extraction process got itself caught in an infinite loop for some unknown reason, a loop that could only be broken by emptying the gas extractors and then restarting the game.
I'm sure the devs are probably already well aware of this particular bug, but it'd still be worth reporting it to them via the in-game F8 bug reporting tool.
Inconceivable!
OK it could be random but the probability is very low.
