But if you deconstruct the results you don't want and then run the set again, eventually you will get your vilnus.
The recipe however actually doesn't appear/unlock in the blueprints screen, or the screen in Biodome 1, and thus it is also not listed in the Incubators recipe screen unless you're playing in creative mode; that said the Vilnus egg recipe requires Phytoplankton A, T3 Mutagen, and T1 Fertiliser - N.B. this recipe is also used for both the Provios and Tegede eggs, so it'll randomly generate one of the three egg types each time and so you may need to switch between the Incubator and the Recycler many times to get the egg you're looking for
Personally, I have always thought that a food recipe should require more commonly available fish eggs than the Vilnus. The other recipes have ingredients quite easy to grow or make. If I remember, they changed the recipe for fish soup to require another fish egg as well, more easily obtained. But you still need the Vilnus. As a result, I have never made fish soup. It's just not worth it for the benefit you get.
Really? I get the recipe showing in the incubator all the time, but not until it's unlocked, and I could've sworn I saw it on one of the screens, I think it was the Biodome, but I need to check. I wonder if we're playing different versions? Mine says it's up-to-date, but I'm not on the developer end of things, just the regular one...
So, I just checked, and you're right, it's not listed anymore, but it IS still listed in my incubator - but it wasn't there until the recipe unlocked.
In my games at least, it used to always be the default results you'd get with the basic 'a' phytoplankton recipe until the provios unlocked, then the provios would become the default recipe results but the vilnus would unlock shortly afterwards.
However in my latest game, started after the decoration update, all I could get for quite some time was the provios, until finally the vilnus unlocked, and I started getting it maybe one try out of 10 or so - which still seems like a fair bit of work for a fish egg...
I have a couple of current 20TTi worldsaves, one that was started many months prior to the Decorations update, the other was started a week or so before, both of which have been run since the update, and both of which had an incubator already in place when the update was released, and Vilnus doesn't show up in the incubator recipe list in either of those worlds. Indeed the only fish egg recipes I do see listed in the Incubator on both worlds are Provios, Gerrero, Khrom, Ulani, and Aelera.
On the off-chance the devs changed the Incubator recipe screen though as part of the recent update, I just removed and re-placed the Incubator in one of my worlds. The recipe screen didn't change and still appears to only display the recipes for those eggs and larva that unlock in the Blueprints screen. On one of the worlds I even have all of the fish arranged on display stands, so at some point I crafted a Vilnus egg and yet the recipe still didn't appear on the recipe list. It's very strange.
I also have a creative mode world and all of the fish recipes, including Vilnus, do show up in the incubator on there. In fact the only things missing from the Incubator in creative mode appear to be 6 of the 20 butterflies because they don't have a recipe either because they're obtained direct from the Trade Rocket, or they're sort of rare but findable in the wild.
Wow, curiouser and curiouser,,, on my system, in my standard games, the butterflies, fish, frogs, etc, only show up once the recipe unlocks, but, they all do show up, eventually. Even the ones without recipes, only available by trade or finding, show up, but not until I'm at about the level to find or buy them.
I haven't actually played creative mode yet, but in my all unlocked games, all the items were there in the incubator from the start, even the ones without a recipe. All I can think is, perhaps the game adapts itself in different ways depending on the system its running on? (totally reaching here though,..)
That sounds rather like you've got the customisation option 'All unlocked' enabled, which apparently displays all of the possible craftable items in their respective in-game menus, but unlike with creative mode or in any regular mode with the custom free build option enabled, you still have to provide all of the materials to craft anything.
This makes the most sense to me. Because none of my incubators have options beyond the Provios, Gerrero, Khrom, Ulani, and Aelera. Neither the Prime planet which is years and many hundreds of hours old, nor the newer Humble save. And I remember making Vilnus was a pain. Lol.
I do have two 'all unlocked' games, but the rest are some form of standard - several intense, a couple of hardcore, and a couple standard, none of them with the 'all unlock' enabled, in fact most don't have any customization at all.
For me the recipe seems to unlock around 250 - 500 or so GTi or so, (just guessing), since most of my incubators in the games higher than that show the vilnus, the others don't (except the two unlocked games currently in my saves folder which always showed them)
Either way the vilnus is a royal pain in the rump to try to get more than one or two or so!
