Can we please have the meteors stop.
It would be great if the meteors stopped after say 500GTi because it starts to get really annoying.

why is it annoying? i've not really noticed any detriment to it, and it brings extra resources to the planet. is there something it's doing that affects you?

Life without meteors would be boring. In addition, they provide a lot of resources. Even after 500GTi, more superalloy, osmium or pulsar quartz, which cannot be mined, will always come in handy. And there's always a reason to get off base, run around the planet for a bit.
If you are bothered by screen shakes, there is an option in the game settings to adjust the strength of these shakes with the option of reducing them to zero.

If you really don't need them, you can save, exit and restart. Meteors gone!

After a while you will be able to craft Pulsar Quartz. And I'd rather set up my 'general purpose AC' for the job than trying to find all the crystals the meter drops.
Yeah, I have a locker full of the homemade stuff.

Pulsars are extra annoying because it takes so long for the rubble to clear.

Saving and reloading just to get rid of it is annoying, too.

Everything is well thought out!
When the dinosaurs die out, then the meteorites can be removed. The dinosaurs haven't arrived yet. It would be nice if the landscape changed a little from meteorites.

You have to hide somewhere, which is annoying, or risk to be hit by some meteor an possibly die.

Hi,
I understand what Muzzman says. In very late game (15TTI for me), when you have many T3 drills at all specifics ressources locations and automatised crystal, you don't need meteors anymore..
I don't think it's boring but it is not useful...

Up until a certain point you need the pulsar one. Once you unlock the recipe then you could turn it off. Why stop it though? Dangerous weather is part of life. I live in tornado alley.

Personally i like the meteorites past end game and they don't 1 shot you, so as long as you're at full health you should be fine.

There are 2 thins that are annoying about meteorite rain:
  • They aim and fall where I am, almost every time blocking access to doors of my base. Even if I hear first one coming, it is often too late to run to the other end of the base and I have to save/load or wait for those huge rocks to disappear.
  • superalloys from meteorite rain disappear too soon. I'd have to go outside during the storm which would most likely kill me. In permadeath mode it's a no go.

Other than that I have no problem with meteorites.

It would make sense for meteor showers to grow less frequent/severe as the atmosphere improves. After all, at some point at least some of them should start burning up in the atmosphere

A controllable meteor defense system would be nice, like an orbital one you have to launch rockets for and control from a new station structure or a whole compartment for it. Being able to filter out the meteor types you don't want to show up would be useful, of course such a complex thing would need circuits to craft.

It'd be nice if we could get a rocket (or something) that would stop meteors. I can't think of a single meteor type that is of interest to me currently.

Meteors do get annoying, I agree. The game should at least try to be somewhat attuning to actual science. In that, as said before, when the atmosphere builds up, they are meeting friction and some of them disintegrate before hitting the ground.

Also, where the heck is this place where there are so many meteor storms, anyway? I understand the novelty of bringing certain resources to the player, but it does get old. And once you have Ore Extractor Tier 3, you don't need them anymore. Even for basic stuff like iron and cobalt, you already do not need them anymore early in the game as you unlock the first Ore Extractor.

But the biggest gripe I have with them is that they don't damage anything. These huge impacts and no damage. I understand the devs wish to implement this at some stage, but I think the sooner the better. Now players are so used to building stuff anywhere. It would have been better to start off with getting serious damage if you start building stuff in the open. There is this huge cave nearby for exactly the purpose of starting a base protected from meteors. This could have been implemented at the early stage, forcing the player to quickly take their belongings and run for shelter in the cave.

Then add a shield system early on so players can think of building outside. Trees and stuff also need to be damaged by the meteors.

Other than the initial time where I needed the Iridium and Uranium the rockets brought down (a total of 4-5 rockets), I have so far only bothered to collect the drops of four meteor showers. Two were pulse crystals (the only two that have shown up so far). One Osmium that I didn't really need, and one Super Alloy which was kinda helpful.

Every single other meteor shower has been a nuisance. Clogging my doors with rocks, rattling the camera, hammering my ears, whacking my character in the head, it just keeps going. Once you've got mines in all the major ore sites, there's no point to the meteor showers, yet they just keep coming. Yes, dramatic, shiny, oooh, I don't need any of it. Heck, I've got drones now so it's not even a trip to get the ores anymore.

Let me build something that just keeps the meteors away. A giant shield or a defense laser or something. Don't even need to add any special graphics to them, just plop 'em down and the meteors just don't spawn.
