PC/Console cross-play: yes or no?

With the XBOX/PS5 release coming up in a few days, I'm wondering if multiplayer cross-platform will be possible between the consoles and the Steam version? My little brother prefers to play console, but I'm a PC guy so we don't often find games that let us play together unless it's a PVP battle arena game, which I sort of hate. Would be nice to terraform a planet together PEACEFULLY for a change.

Maybe the functionality will be added later on down the road, but it's apparently not entirely a simple straight-forward process to add cross-platform compatibility, so if the devs do decide to go there it may take some time in amongst all the other tasks on the games roadmap.

In the meantime maybe you can persuade your little brother to play this game on PC using his console controller, there's a couple of simple steps needed to set the game up to run that way, but it definitely can be done and it works reasonably well too.
