Moon. I was thinking the same thing.
On Selenea there is no aluminium, you can find some in crates or lockers but not on surface.
Selenea has a lack of all T2 ores in special. I tried several times and failed. With ore randomizer on, it was possible to get aluminium on selenea on surface (in my case with iridium), but iron, cobalt were the exchange for the iridium and aluminium. The randomzer is random, so its not guaranteed to get aluminium on surface.

On Prime (Main Planet) there are a greyisch field where aluminium is, some can be found in the labyrinth (not much).

Yeah. They offered to start me on a moon (hard) so I gave it a go. No T2 ores. That's tough.

After scouring the map after starting on Selena, can confirm no T2 ores at all. It's a miracle i've gotten to 3 GTI.

That's why the devs specifically warn us in the changelog notes for the update that starting on Selenea is basically 'Expert Mode' and thus is not a recommended starting point for everyone.

At first it wasn't so bad. I figured I was an expert by this point. Then the reality set in about the T2 ores hah. Its a fun challenge though.

A quick look at the in-game map for Selenea shows there aren't even any mining locations for any ores other than 3 locations each for Blazar (blue) Quartz and Selenium ore.

That said, keep an eye out for the basic Rock Meteor Shower events as they sometimes drop aluminum along with the other basic ores.

You need the planets set up to send you materials.
I hope you brought stuff to build a rocket to get back to the Planets.

This new update allows you to start on Selenea, from where you'll have no access to Prime, Humble or the other moon, Aqualis, until you've fully terraformed Selenea.
