The Planet Crafter

The Planet Crafter

Lost and Irreplaceable Construction Microchip
After completing the main planet I flew to Humble and while trying to set things up I took off my backpack to upgrade it. For some reason I was thinking it would reduce my equipment slots rather than my inventory, so I had pulled out all the microchips so they wouldn't explode out of my inventory. Unfortunately, my silliness led to them going all over the place and I can't find the construction microchip. Since I didn't make a basic crafter, I can't make a new one and I can't construct anything else. I also didn't make the rocket to return home because of power, so I'm completely stuck. What do I do?
I also tried deconstructing my base and using the unstuck button in Options that teleports you to a random base, hoping that it would take me back to the original planet. Instead, it teleported be to a ruined base in the caves where I'm trapped. I ran out of oxygen before I could make it to my vehicle and when I respawn I go to that same base with almost no oxygen, so even if I get my construction chip back, I can't get back to safety.
Update: After exiting the save and loading back in it reset my oxygen to near full and once I found the right path I was able to make it back to my vehicle and where I lost the item. Then I tried going into the .json file for the save to edit the item's location up slightly. I don't know if I succeeded at that, but when I went to the location listed (which was much further from where I was standing when I lost it than I was expecting) I was able to pick it up. It was floating in the air, but about the same height as where I dropped it, since I had to go down a hill to get to the right coordinates, so I don't know if the edit worked or I just couldn't find it because I wasn't looking in the right place. Either way, problem solved.

Wow, that's a tough one.
The only thing I can suggest is look harder for the lost chip but if it went under the terrain you are toast.
You might be able to edit the save file to add a chip. But I don't know how to do that.

I know it is too late, but you don't need to take stuff out to upgrade it anymore.
Kill the program before it saves automatically yia Taskmanager

Maybe Coops is right - if you happen to still have the deconstruction chip you can try and dismantle everything

ok, found it - C -> users -> name -> appdata -> locallow -> Mijugames -> Planet Crafter
there is a backup.json you probably can replace the file with - better save folder first ;)
For future reference, you don't have to take off your backpack/oxygen pack/exoskeleton when upgrading. The old version in Equipment gets used and immediately replaced with the new one.

The microchip items are rather small and being mostly a white on black square shape they can be very easily missed if they end up on the floor.

That said, if you were inside a building a dropped microchip will sometimes end up on top of that building rather than on the floor, so it does pay to look up as well as down.

Nope.... That's not going to work. I find that the backup.json is being updated at the same time as the named game save is... Looks to me like it does not keep old saves...
it is logical, that the backup is replaced with the last savefile before overwriting the last save in my opinion so timestamp would be updated as the same time...

Good to hear you got sorted.
Wow, you found a way to fail the game - congratulation!
They must create an achievement for that! :D
