Yeah, getting to food grower is a major PITA and this game is no longer a "chill" game. You will die a LOT and you need to explore as fast as possible. Getting to 12ppt on oxygen is super critical to get food grower.

It's also feeling like a super clickfest. holy crap the amount of clicking I am doing to pick up minerals is super annoying after 2hrs of play.

Weird, on Normal, I got to way past food growers, and only almost died once (but saved myself at the literal last second), and that was only because I was careless with trying to reach a wreck at the beginning of the game, which would have been easily preventable.

I ended up going towares the sulfer and iridium fields, and put my base around the corner from where the broken down explosives robot is. I don't think there is any danger of being underwater anywhere around the starting location. If anything, I'm worried about finding a decent water location for water and algea collectors because our starting altitude was around 140. For comparison, the original planet had lakes fill up to about 25 in height, so we're WAY above that.

i wandered around and i have to say : this map isnt even finished
found a part of whatever flying in the air (sulfur region) , ressources are mot really connected to the ground and even strange rips in the air

I have reached insects so spoiler - the water rises to about 146 height.
You can find some aluminum just look for the lava falls high in the sky and head for it. You will it and 2 other needed mats. Sorry don't know how to hide spoilers.

I just built where the constructed buildings are and build on the platforms as high as they go.

I'm at the insect progression point now. I have built where there are previous structures not too far from the starting point and have no issues with water levels. The water doesn't rise nearly as much as it does in the base game.

No more aluminum on the ground. You have to crush bauxite, so find bauxite, click and click and click and then put it into the crusher.

You can also find remnants and deconstruct t2 solar arrays to get some.

The white geodes also yield aluminum. You'll need explosives to break them open. There's a broken robot near the landing site that has a lot of them.

Man this game is such a cluster. Shows they have not learned how to prevent clipping / problems.

Found this ship on this plateau, it has a "entrance" hole on the underside of it. I built a ladder to get inside and once inside, the "entrance" disappears and I'm inside the ship, with little to no oxygen and no way to get out.

I have hundreds of hours with PC, wrote a guide, and it just perplexes me with this kind of crap. Seriously, they have not learned.

Similar story for me, ended up in a cave system jet packing that i could not get out of.
While exploring for an exit i clipped through a wall and that was it, i was clipped until i ran out of O2.

There is a chest somewhere with a microchip in it thats really tilting me!!
But i will persist!!

Yeah, it was rough to start so far.. but i am enjoying it... finally got some food growers going so should be good from now on... has anyone found any aluminium fields yet? Everything i need now requires it, and i have yet to discover a location yet where you can mine it (not that i have miners yet, but it usually will be on the ground as well...)
East of the Base you find up the hill are come caves with egg like things. You can find explosives to the west, pf the base. Use the explosives to blow up the eggs and there is aluminum in there. Also Super Alloy. I got a alloy rod blowing one up

Planet Humble does in fact keep you humble.

It's by far the best location in the game for a base, it really irks me that you cannot remove the rocks/old base structures, its like 'look at this awesome location for a base, just gonna dump a bunch of base blocking stuff here because I forgot this is a base building game I'm making' -.-
The amount of clipped terrain makes the game feel EA again, actually, I don't think EA was even this bad. Its a ridiculous amount of falling through nonexistent geometry, or walking waist deep in rock, invisible walls nowhere near surfaces. For a game that's focused on exploration, the terrain is real shoddy.
